What I'm Working On #013
Added 2024-01-11 12:45:08 +0000 UTCHi! I'm back with an update on what I've been working on for modding this week. As you noticed, the Violin/Piano Duets mod came out, and now that I have a framework for how two instruments can play together, I plan to incorporate more in the future!
Marksmanship
The rest of my time was spent on the Marksmanship mod this week, and now I have a plan for how hunting will actually work in the game. There will be designated "hunting spots" that you can place, where your Sims can go to wait for game to appear. Different animals can appear, and you will have a chance to hit or miss your target.

Getting to that gif took a lot of time this week. I made the deer mesh by editing the foal rig, and then texture-painted it. Then I had to figure out how to rig it. I haven't had to import a custom rig into the game since the Archery mod, so it's been a minute and I forgot some crucial steps along the way, with some disturbing results.

But I finally feel like I have a better handle on how to make custom rigs for the game! This opens up a lot of new possibilities, even potentially things like new animal objects or zoos. I need to get better at texturing though, because this low poly pheasant is going to haunt my dreams.

Also, did I mention I'm a vegetarian? I didn't think about that before starting on this mod. π Oh well, I suppose you can only feel so bad for pixels...

There will be deer, rabbits, and pheasants. Once you hunt an animal, you will be able to trade them in for meat, and I spoke with Littleblowbub to make it compatible with Ye Olde Cookbook as well!
Flute
The outcome of this month's poll was the Flute! So I worked on making the object itself. It's currently the size of a bazooka but I'll fix it once I get to animating. πΌ

Until next time,
~ JS

2024-01-17 17:28:20 +0000 UTCHey! I love the peacock idea and definitely think it's possible. As for a sewing skill, I had thought of adding a minor handsewing skill to the Regency mod but am open to doing more if there's interest! I need to get better at making CAS items though before I could do a mod like that justice.

2024-01-16 20:09:59 +0000 UTCOMG this is exciting! Hunting, yesss! And a flute! Awww, perfect! Thank you so much for all your amazing work! But now I'm thinking what possibilities this opens. Would you ever consider adding functional peacocks? They would be perfect for the sims' manors, palaces and castles, strolling around their large gardens:-))) And btw - do you think you might ever add a sewing skill?
