Rewind eps
Added 2024-11-27 03:16:42 +0000 UTCHello Patreon!
We floated the idea of doing some rewind episodes during the latest BTF, and a few of you reached out to say you’d love to see it happen. So, we’ve decided to give it a try!
We’ll start where it all began with Case 1: The Wanda Beach Murders. If you have any specific questions or things you’d like us to dive into about this case or the process behind it, let us know in the comments below, and we’ll do our best to cover them.
Thank you for your continued support—it means the world to us.

Yay! I’m so happy you are doing behind the files for rewind eps! I have so many questions about some of the early episodes. Especially the Vancouver Island, Canada ones! I believe Casey that you researched wrote and recorded this first episode when you were recovering from a knee (?) surgery? What inspired you to actually post this first episode online? Did you ever think at the time that Casefile would become what it is today? I’m curious to know if anyone on the team thinks this murder is still solvable? I listened to it again, it’s just a heartbreaking story. I wonder how much the prejudiced attitudes of the times impeded information coming forward to the police.

2024-12-02 22:42:57 +0000 UTCOh wow, I listened to this in 2015(?) - coming off the Serial high, desperate for more good true crime. Those early eps were such a good introduction to the genre.

2024-12-02 22:41:51 +0000 UTCWhat led to the change in episodes being presented in a more facts based manner rather than the use of speculation and conjecture used in the narration of this episode and other early episodes? Was it based on listener feedback or a decision from the team? Out of the suspects mentioned in the episode, who do you believe offers the most compelling case for being the murderer? Or do you believe it is some else entirely?

2024-12-02 01:25:06 +0000 UTCI reminded back to Episode 1. I have been faithful to Casefile from the start. I am quite impressed with the raw talent and progression of the anonymous narrator. As an American, I am drawn to his accent and the characteristics of his speech. His voice has taken me to so many places, with such interest and intrigue. Staying anonymous is impressive and makes my mind fall into the narrative. Great podcasts !!

2024-12-01 03:14:46 +0000 UTCI watched a 60 minutes (I think) episode years ago where they presented evidence that a man named Derek Percy could have been responsible for quite a few unsolved murders including Wanda Beach and the Beaumont Children. What are your thoughts on this theory?

2024-11-30 21:41:10 +0000 UTCFunny. I been with you since case one. All episodes are on podcast addict. But grats on a long term podcaster.

2024-11-30 10:53:18 +0000 UTCI think that might have been my question 🫢 unless of course someone has asked again

2024-11-30 10:50:20 +0000 UTCI found it that way yeah, I'm 99% sure it wasn't posted officially, it was in about 7 10minute parts annoyingly but all there

2024-11-30 09:39:23 +0000 UTCYeah fair enough. It was tough one from memory. So I’ll just search it on YouTube?

2024-11-30 08:13:01 +0000 UTCI believe (and am happy to be corrected), some of the language used with respect of the LGBT community was inaccurate/offensive. The episode is uploaded (not by them) in parts on YouTube as I relistened myself a few months back. There was an intention to rerecord it but it hasn't happened yet....

2024-11-30 08:10:25 +0000 UTCHow come I can’t listen to Snowtown?😩

2024-11-30 07:26:47 +0000 UTCHe sort of received this question in the October Q&A, it was a mixed answer, that I took as a no.

2024-11-28 17:57:49 +0000 UTCDid you think about writing the cases for an international audience at the time, or were you assuming an Australian audience that would have a basic understanding of the case? Were there things about that ep that you'd present differently today?

2024-11-28 08:40:21 +0000 UTCCasey do you ever miss writing the episodes yourself?
AR
2024-11-28 08:39:31 +0000 UTCWhat do you think are the odds that this murderer is responsible for more deaths either prior to or after the Wanda Beach murders? To my mind, “one and done” murderers are pretty rare.

2024-11-27 22:53:00 +0000 UTCWhy did you choose this as your first case. Thanks

2024-11-27 04:56:15 +0000 UTCI'd love to hear commentary on how and why you started casefile, as well as thoughts on how it sounds, how you recorded, things you notice about the old recordings, and improvements you've made/can see looking back on it.

2024-11-27 04:30:00 +0000 UTCThis being the first ever Casefile, how and where did your research process begin? As someone who hates hearing his voice and reviewing old work I’ve completed, is listening now cause a cringe or two? Not that it should, of course.

2024-11-27 04:23:13 +0000 UTCNo questions, just wanted to say that I'm excited for the new content. Thanks for listening to supporters!

2024-11-27 03:50:58 +0000 UTCDefinitely would love the rewinds of episodes that have been removed! There was an older episode where I think it resulted in two cops being killed in Australia and it was very interesting.

2024-11-27 03:38:16 +0000 UTCi think it's a great idea to do a rewind! would love to see claremont and snowtown done again if possible

2024-11-27 03:30:57 +0000 UTCThanks for doing this. I miss the old From The Files episodes that gave updates and background info.

2024-11-27 03:30:15 +0000 UTCI’m 💯 in favor of this. Wanda Beach is the perfect place to start. I’d be interested to learn if there has been anyone in the Police Dept investigating lately, like a cold case squad? Not just waiting for tips, but a fresh eyes sort of thing.
