Case 300: Tegan Lane (Part 1/2)

After 24-year-old Keli Lane gave birth in 1999, she began the process of placing her newborn son for adoption. It was soon revealed that Keli had also given birth in September 1996, to a baby girl named Tegan Lee Lane who couldn’t be located. Keli claimed Tegan was with her biological father, Andrew Norris, but was she telling the truth or had something sinister happened to baby Tegan?

I do think fwiw in this case it's not clear that there *was* a crime against a child, so it's a bit unlike some of the other situations they've covered lately. But you're not wrong, there have been several lately.

"She’s been convicted which is why she is in jail. So yes we can assume she is guilty." ... OMG - how damn naive is that. How many innocent people have been jailed.

Refresh refresh refresh 😭

I’ve listened to this 5 times. Pleaseeeeee can you release the next episode early? I’m desperate to know what happened!

Elisha

Maybe wait until Part 2 has dropped before discussing the outcome of the case in the comments?

Ben

Christopher Worrel

This is a great choice for a "big" episode, btw. congrats on 300 amazing episodes!!

AR

What a frustrating case. I'm expecting something monumental for there to be a part 2! (excellent musical accompaniment as usual)

Alan

it’s called exposed: the case of kelli lane. you can watch it for free with abc iview as well

Hi Casey, hi team! I was wondering something. What's the difference between being a Patreon for Casefile and being a subscriber for Casefile Premium on for example Apple Podcaster? It seems like, subscribing on Podcaster will give me access to all of the Casefile presents content. But Patreon will only give me access to Casefile. So? Is there a difference that I'm missing? Any added perks of being on Patreon besides being able to comment like this?? I'm starting to feel kinda stupid that I'm paying the same money for much less content πŸ˜… especially since I can't stand ads, so it just means that I'm not listening to the other Casefile presents material at all!! Would appreciate a reply so much, thank you πŸ™πŸΌ

Is the Netflix one worth a watch?

Ali

What a fascinating case. So shocked when the pregnancies kept being revealed!

Ali

Wondered when Casefile would take on this one! Love the Casefile spin on cases that are well known. Always hear something new.

She’s been convicted which is why she is in jail. So yes we can assume she is guilty.

What is the name of the documentary, I'd love to watch it!

I felt really bad for the random Queensland girl and her parents. I'm sure the cops were like, "so sorry, probably not you but it's a national case, so we have to." It'd probably never happen but I'd love to hear their take on what the whole incident has done to them as well.

Demi

Why does it give so much Casey Anthony :/

Taryn-Lee Biggar

Could you please give us a break from crimes against children?

Debbi Smith

Yay! πŸ€—

Shannon Walker

Assuming she's actually guilty.

Bob Trenwith

Also, I'm so glad there's the no body, no parole dealio in NSW.

Alex May

Thats right, if memory serves. She's at Amber Laurel Correctional - which I drive past quite frequently.

Alex May

Oooh, I watched a documentary about this case on Netflix. Can’t wait to hear your take on it!

Nicola Carroll

Not yet! She couldn't get parole as she hasn't disclosed where her baby's body is. Her full sentence will be finished in a few years (I believe) and she'll be released then

Caiti

OMG I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS! She's out of jail now too, isn't she?
