‘All the great companies come out of the USA’ 😂😂😂. Guess it depends how you define ‘great’. Thanks for the exceptional podcast, keep up the amazing work.

Thank you for this amazing Q&A episode. That last question by Doug infuriated me so much I wanted to find a way to connect and express my support for y’all. His hot take was garbage and reveals so much about the insidious nature of capitalism in the United States. He is an outlier. Very few people like to work to the degree which he expresses, especially for the lack of time off and wages we get. Hell, national holidays are not mandated days off in this country. And as you all so eloquently stated, folks have no idea how much work you put it. I’m an educator, and people give me similar grief. It’s absurd and insulting. If you’re that pressed about people taking well deserved time off because of your own selfish reasons, you need to get other hobbies. You shouldn’t have had to explain that, but here we are. Americans stay proving to the world that we are the worst. Anyway, thank y’all for doing what you do. I’m excited for what’s to come in 2024. I discovered y’all back in 2019 and I have not been disappointed. P.S. I’m glad I’m not the only one off our by Doug’s comments.

Casey, you’re sassiness in this episode was priceless. Loved it!

Stashing this for the next Q&A: I'm curious your take on the criminal justice systems in various countries. I live in the US. While appropriate for the most violent murders, I am disturbed by the very lengthy sentences that other offenders get here and also disturbed by the lack of transition and rehabilitation at the end of those lengthy sentences. On the other hand, I've noted comments from victims' families in other countries who dislike the more lenient sentences and versions of day parole leading up to the release of the person who offended against their loved one. How do you balance justice with redemption? If you were creating the perfect criminal justice system, what elements would you include?

WTF Doug? 🤦🏻‍♀️ You sound like a doofus. Many apologies from America. 🙏

Thanks for the explanation about your time off Casey & team. Your work regimen gets the same criticism as folks in my previous job, which was IT support for politicians. Most constituents see their elected officials as lazy folks that only work when a parliamentary session is in progress and those might only be 6 months tops per year. The problem with that way of thinking is no one ever sees all the work that goes on behind the scenes, so how could they know and your business is no different. Thanks for keeping the quality of the show #1 and not exchanging it for quantity.

Doug you're making us look bad buddy. We need more vacation time in the USA. The work culture here is toxic.

Aki

Casefile didn't need to respond to Doug's comments but I do love how thorough you were about it lol! Thank you for all your hard work and I'm excited to hear what case the team comes back with!

Demi

You really shouldn’t feel obligated to answer comments like Doug’s, nor should you or the team feel a need to justify the breaks by telling us you work during that time. You guys put out a great quality, popular show. You can run your business the way you like, that’s part of the benefit of a successful creative business! If you wanted to use that time off to work less, that’s your prerogative. People who don’t like it don’t have to listen or contribute. I second the comments that us Americans are not all this ignorant!

Alex Lash

OMG Doug- you sound like such a fun guy!! The amount of work that you all put in to each episode is outstanding - would prefer you taking breaks and come back refreshed!!

Sandra Russo

Damn Doug what crawled up your ass? I have been a Casefile Patron since the beginning and while I miss you guys on your breaks, I've never once thought you didn't deserve them. I back at least 10 podcasts and they all take little breaks throughout the year, this isn't a strange or out of line thing. I also own my own tiny graphic design business and when you're a creative that isn't a 9-5 employee, your hours, flexibility and workflow are more up to you. We should have more freedoms in life than most of us (Americans) are given as employees. Bragging that it makes us better at anything, besides depression, is just ignorant. We love you CF team and can't wait to have you back next month!

Amber

Doug must have been drunk. That’s literally how all TV shows work. They take a year or two to be in production before releasing another season usually. Doesn’t mean they’re sitting doing nothing, they’re literally working in the time the shows aren’t airing. It’s the same concept. And you all only have a handful of employees. Not to mention the other shows you guys do, which are also fantastic and great quality. I honestly thought you guys were overworked. TV quality writing and back to back episodes with barely any break, meanwhile most TV shows take a year+ off for production purposes. Thank you guys for always putting quality first and doing such a great job working hard on that.

Michelle Clark

Doug sounds like a real arsehole…. Looking forward to the New Year and coming content.

Melanie Sanders

Fantastic content as always casey & crew, happy new year to you all.

Jacob Smith

Thanks for the episode! Not all Americans are as ignorant as Doug. Sorry! 🤦🏻‍♀️
