Case 267: Brian Barrett

In the spring of 2005, two 18-year-olds met in an online chat room and immediately hit it off. Jessi went by the username TalHotBlond, while her new friend Tommy called himself MarineSniper. It wasn’t long before the two had fallen in love and gotten engaged… But less than a year into their relationship, the romance would be destroyed by a shocking revelation that ultimately led to devastating consequences…

Case 267: Brian Barrett

Comments

I was waiting for that twist at the end. Something about Jesse was off to me the entire time!

Mandy G

I'm not gonna lie, when the episode started I was thinking "please catfish each other" but I didn't expect any of the twists that can, or the spiral to murder. Can we also take a second to be impressed with the ex-wife who wrote Jesse to warn her? I feel like you only see stories of "back off, that's my husband!" Mad props to a mom who actually wants to protect children!

Demi

Well, I didn’t see that coming!!!

James Russell

My jaw was on the floor by the end of this. Can't believe the mother tried to justify speaking to an (apparent) 18 year old! Both the adults in this case were disgraceful

Cerys B

That was wild

Rebekah

This is what disturbs me the most!

Emily Ann

The “adults” in this story are despicable. So disturbing.

Emily Ann

Good ending.

Cynthia Pearson

Ma'am - what?!

Carolyn Barry

Gosh, the loneliness really got to me. How this escalated to murder is unfathomable. I Hope the daughter is okay.

Christine Allen

I think you might be remembering Case 104 https://casefilepodcast.com/case-104-mark-and-john/

Drew Sturgiss

The absolute worst thing about this story is that both these grown adults seem to see nothing wrong with their own actions and believe themselves to be victims. Neither has expressed any remorse, but both have publicly expressed how unfairly they were treated by the other. This whole story is just vile. Well told, but vile.

Amy Hart

I know. I have an 18 year old daughter (also away at school) and thinking about this woman's actions makes me feel physically ill.

Amy Hart

I hope the real Jessie is ok. Imagine hearing what your own mum had been doing with your photos!

Sammy

I was thinking the same and remembered I heard it elsewhere too!

Sammy

Never mind, I figured it out… It was covered on another true crime podcast that I listen to, ha! No wonder it sounded familiar.

Laurel Fleming

Ok this is really bothering me, I swear this is a repeat, anybody else? Is it a re-release or am I thinking of another case?

Laurel Fleming

Her not apologizing to her daughter or even admitting wrongdoing might be the craziest part

N Stevens

Great storytelling. Senseless murder on so many levels.

Alan

Wow what a story. Disgusting man and women.

fruitpicker

First twist was obvious and you could see it from a mile away. Second twist tho; holy crap

brock305miller

How is sending upskirt photos of her daughter online without her permission not a criminal offence? I wonder if either of them has wondered ... could we have hit it off if we'd both told the truth and been ourselves?

Bob Trenwith

My god. Awful woman, I hope her daughter has found a way to cope.

TheodoraTheExplorer

That is a bad mother to be sharing images, videos and even clothing containing and belonging her child to strangers and prolong inappropriate interactions. Why didnt she go to the cops after the FIRST interaction back in 2005?! That mum needs to lose custody of her daughter, and Jessie needs to be in a safer envirnment where she won't be what is basically abused by a person she's meant to trust!!!

AdmirerofQueens270

I expected Tommy to be the original 46 that his profile said he was, but I didn’t expect her to be a 40 something year old woman either. How bizarre.

Zac

How long before someone whines about the "short" episode?
