Case 262: Samia Shahid

This was Patreon Picks #26, released in February 2023. It is not new content, it is the same episode, but as Patreon picks episodes are now going to be released on the main feed months after their initial Patreon release, we had to repost it so that all episodes can keep the same numbering on the main feed and the Patreon feed.

As this is an exclusive Patreon perk, we ask that you do not share the RSS feed and refrain from discussing this case elsewhere until the general release.

We highly value your feedback. If you have any questions, concerns, or comments, please let us know below.

Case 262: Samia Shahid

Her father had to have her killed to uphold his honor but didn't have enough honor to admit he helped murder his own daughter. And the law about the murderer being forgiven if he payed enough is just disgusting. Where's the honor in that? What kind of sick religion would permit and condone it?

Troy Janise

It amazes me when Muslims claim that their religion is all about love but they've been killing each other over that same religion. Also, I guess I'm a bit confused about how that same religion can condone 'honor' killings. It would be interesting to know how many women and girls have been murdered over their family's 'honor'.

This is one of the rare Casefile eps that I skipped when it first premiered because honor killing is just such a troubling and dark, painful subject. Listened just now and want to thank you guys as always for your respectful and non-sensational handling of the case. RIP Samia.

I became a lawyer because of a loathing of injustice. that sort of "pit of the stomach" visceral feeling. This story caused that feeling.
