BTF and Q&A

Hello all, the team is getting ready to record the next ep of Behind the Files and the general Q&A. The episodes that will be discussed on BTF are;

Case 248 Abraham Shakespeare

Case 249 Lorraine Wilson and Wendy Evans

Case 250 Amy Boyer

Case 251 The Caldwell Farmhouse murders

If you have any questions specific to these cases send them in. And as we are now combining the general Q&A with BTF, you can ask any other questions as well. If you have any audio/music/production specific questions Mike and Anthony from the production team are happy to answer. You can submit your question in the comments below.

I'm going to leave this here for the next BTF because I can't remember my questions for that long. Regarding case 255 Rudolf Rupp, I was not at all suspicious of the position of Rudolf's body, kneeling backward on the seat. My immediate thought was that upon going underwater, he turned to get his face up to an air pocket. It is such a logical reason for him to be oddly positioned. Were you surprised that the authorities and the defense didn't put that forth as an explanation?

I really appreciated the Abraham Shakespeare episode. You guys always do a great job (you're my favorite true crime podcast - and I listen to a lot of them), but this episode really stood out for me. It's one of those rare instances where I didn't just learn about a crime I knew nothing about, but it gave me something to think about long after. The tale of Abraham Shakespeare is a tragic one and it made me aware of something I never gave much thought to - the downside of being rich. We all dream of winning the lottery, but I don't think many of us realize what a burden it could also be. While researching and writing this story, did any of the Casefile team discuss what they would do if they found themselves in Abraham's situation?

(A couple of lighthearted questions for the end of the episode) I learned the other day from a list of interesting facts about Australia that there is an age old question “where have all the bloody teaspoons gone?” As an American I am confused and would like to know if this is indeed an age old question and why. What are Australians doing with these teaspoons? Do any of you celebrate Christmas in July? What’s the weather like where you are, anyone expecting snow?

Hi Casey, Are there any plans to bring back case update episodes either on the main feed or as bonus content behind a paywall? Also, how often do you have individuals who featured in an episode attempting to suppress the use of their name or threaten litigation if edits are not made? I vividly remember you releasing a update episode for case 26 where you addressed the complainant directly to correctly declare no wrongdoing and invite the person onto the show to publicly respond. Thank You! Ben

For Lorraine and Wendy: knowing everything we do about the Lauries and Hiltons' involvement, is there any indication the police looked into other crimes that could be linked to them? I'd think this wasn't their first time or last time committing SUCH an egregious crime and there could be cold cases that they could solve, or even use to present a fact pattern to build a case. For Amy: this case was a bit of a departure from Casefile's usual storytelling but it was a great Chelsea to highlight because stalking is rarely covered in such depth. What made you choose Amy's story and would you consider more cases like this?

Case 249: IMHO,This was one of the most disturbing cases you’ve covered. How many crimes have been committed, where there are no witnesses, no glimmer of rescue for victims? Now I’m this case, there were many and I can only imagine the sense of relief for these women, thinking they’d be save, but not, how is that even possible😞😞 Are there any laws in Australia that can penalize people for inaction when they’re aware that a crime is being committed, and if so, was anyone charged in connection with this case? I literally, feel sick to my stomach when I imagine the torture these women endured, made worse by their hope a rescue would happen because “so many people saw us, for sure we will be rescued “ 🤢

General question: Is case file going to re-release the Claremont serial killer episode? If so, when?
