Case 229: The Killer Realtor

On Thursday, November 6 2003, a customer was met with a grisly scene at a motorcycle dealership called Superbike Motorsports in Chesnee, South Carolina. Owner Scott Ponder, his mother Beverly Guy, store manager Brian Lucas and mechanic Chris Sherbert had all been gunned down in cold blood. The quadruple homicide was one of the worst crimes Spartanburg County had ever seen, and would eventually go cold… until a double missing persons case more than a decade later and a successful realtor named Todd Kohlhepp would take the case in an unexpected direction.

Idk why, but I was like “oh god someone is gonna be in there” from the second the mentioned the container 😵‍💫 cannot imagine

Wow - the part where police officers heard a knock back gave me goosebumps while listening. It is really so crazy to know that psychos are just out in society and if you're unlucky enough to cross paths with them you end up captive in a shipping container

Carolyn Barry

It’s so unnerving to know that people like this are in society. The layers in this story were incredible. And the way you tell these cases is like no other. Great work on such somber topics.

AudaciousOne

Been waiting for this episode. Listening now…

I remember seeing this story on a true crime show. What an evil monster!

Megan Brennan

What a damn psychopath :( I don't know how society can protect itself from people like this..

PoseidonXcomics

It says that at the beginning of the episode some names have been changed. I think it’s in order to respect the victim’s privacy!

Thank you, we fixed it.

I love ALL your episodes but really like the ones that I haven’t heard of before! You guys rock 🎸🎸🎸

Katy Turley

Not to nit pick, but I think at one point you referred to victim’s wife Melissa as Michelle. Great episode.

Mariya Cassin

That was wild. What a terrifying man.

Brenda Wells

Very crazy case.

I exclaimed "THE SUPER BIKE MURDERS!" like I was on some kind of quiz show. Amazing job as usual.

I was worried about the extended length as episodes this long tend to be drawn out, but this one needed that full coverage. It kept me interested the whole way ... although I was half expecting the double link to Arizona to be connected by the end, and was slightly disappointed that Scott's wife didn't have an unexpected connection with Kohlhepp.
