Case 170: The Caffey Family

At the entry to one property, Max, a black labrador waits patiently. He’s a loyal dog who takes it upon himself to protect his family at all costs. Max sits next to the remains of what was once a beloved family home. There is rubble everywhere and some embers are still hot on his paw pads as he walks through the ashes.

I’ve finally heard two words I feel uncomfortable hearing in a Casefile episode: Piers Morgan 😂

Maya George

I wasn’t familiar but as soon as I heard the details of the crime scene I thought “hang on a second...” and then when the twist was revealed I gasped and said aloud, “No WAY!” 100% agree, I constantly feel like my Casefile Patreon membership is the best money I spend!!

That surprised me when I heard it, I assume it’s the same Piers Morgan from the recent Meghan Markle tantrum drama?

Telma M

I thought this case sounded familiar - then realized why - it was on Piers Morgan Killer Women. Crazy, sad case.

Captain Flint

Another great episode. Reminded me in some ways of Jennifer Pan and The Gonzales Family.

Charles Comiskey

SO good! I remember Terry's story from the show "I survived" but this was such a well-done, thorough cover of a crazy story

To be clear: I’m not blaming the family by any means. They truly thought what was doing best, and from their framework they were acting reasonably. I think that many of those communities praise the hyper-isolation of young people. That warps the mind. That doesn’t excuse the crime by any means. It just creates a familiar pattern that was extreme in this case

(Spoilers) Idk about non Americans, but as an American with a familiar with evangelism, the twist wasn’t a big surprise. Great episode tho! I like the narration from the victims’ perspective most. The mystery angle is what makes it really engaging

I know this case well and I still felt that tension when the twist came. The storytelling of this case, that I find incredibly baffling, was masterful. You guys are the absolute best at what you do.

Wow this episode is insane! Great work team!

That intro just punched me in the gut. 😭 This is gonna be a rough one.

Yea likewise, I thought this was the week off.

Abhi Ram

You seem to be looking to pick a fight.

Oh no B.T!!.. its about 3 mins longer than than the last one!! Hope that's not too "drawn out" for you. This will be great work again I'm sure ,as always Casey 'n Co. ... so looking forward to settling in and listening to this.
