Underrated Podcasts?

The most underrated podcast that is deserving of a bigger audience and should be a Casefile Presents show is........?

Coment below! Doesn't have to be true crime.

Comments

Killafornia Dreaming

Angie Foust

The first two would be my picks too (add Mens Rea as #3) except I don't know if they're underrated or relatively unknown. You're Wrong About did good series on the O.J. Simpson trial and Princess Diana. (What is the plural of series?)

Jennifer

Bad Trip Podcast is true crime, wacky and hilarious, and full of information I’d never know otherwise. Love the “road trip” theme the episode format follows

Taylor Renae Ward

The Fall Line is smaller/underrated. They focus on the Southeast US & marginalized POC or LGBTQ+ folks whose cases don’t get a lot of national attention and aren’t often covered on other podcasts. The Fall Line could really benefit from the exposure & they cover cases that most people in the true crime world have never heard of, because the victims come from marginalized communities.

Why I Hate This Album

Addison Walker

The Tim Dillon Show

Dylan mcd

True Crime Bull**** by Josh Hallmark. His research and deep dives into relatively unknown serial killer Israel Keyes is going to solve so many cases

Hayley Bennett

Jamie Yardley

Fall line, southern friend true crime and already gone. Canadian true crime second only to casefile

Jamie Yardley

Not a podcast but check out True Crime News Weekly. Australian small investigative journalism outfit dedicated to corruption. They need cash to avoid going under, so make sure you go and support them! Www.truecrimenewsweekly.com

Stefan Bradley

Hunting warhead is probably one of my favs because of how great it was

B-randy D

Murder Mile - Michael the host is a great storyteller and he does a ton of research on each of the cases - going to the National Archives etc. His series on The Blackout Ripper was particularly well done.

Captain Flint

This sounds really interesting - going to have to check this out!

Captain Flint

Hunting Warhead & Swindled

Cailin Loyd

She’s amazing. I’m so glad Erica is on the mend!

Lisa himes

Belangelo is my all time favorite. Truly terrifying and so well done

Totally random, but Bedrock Wine Conversations is one of the few (and newish) wine podcasts. Hosted by Chris and Morgan from Bedrock Wine. Really excellent if you are into (or trying to get into) wine. Also, and I don’t even know if this would be considered to be a “good” podcast (but I’m obsessed) is Atoms, Motion, and the Void. It is like a kind of odd, ongoing storytelling style podcast. I say I don’t know if it’s considered to be good, because what makes it is Sherwin Sleeves’s storytelling and music - his voice/tones and rhythm are just amazing. It reminds me of listening to Irish folk tales without being that at all. Be warned: it is weird. Really great, yes... But also really weird.

Robert Grasing

Serial Killers, it takes a while to get into it, but I am now on 45 and there a few that Casey has done. They go into the psychology of each of the cases.

Natasha Fleming

Very good narration, I love these

Natasha Fleming

Everyone says MFM which I actually do not like at all, and I'm like Nope, AKNF!!

Amber

100% this. I love comedy but have never really felt drawn to listen to anyone who combines comedy and true crime, except for All Killa No Filla :)

Maya George

I also like: sinister and fatal-i-teas. True Crime Couple still gets my number one vote!!!!

Ashley Renée

True Crime Couple. They pick great topics that aren’t covered by many, give great detail, I love their banter, and they’re just super sweet. I look forward to them every single week. PLEASE check them out. I think they’re super under-rated and worth a listen!!!

Ashley Renée

Canadian true Crime

Andi

True Crime Enthusiast, They Walk Among Us, True Crime Finland, Seeing Red, and - not true crime related but always wonderful- You're Wrong About.

About a Girl, a spin-off of the true crime/rock and roll podcast Disgraceland, about the women behind rock legends.

For recommendations outside the true crime podcast space (podspace?), I like Revolutions™, Song Exploder™, and Ologies™. Revolutions™ is just *SO* dense with information. I've studied at three (3) universities, and I can't recall a single class where I had to process anywhere near the amount of information that Mike Duncan crams into his episodes. All those names, dates, places, etc. can be intimidating; sometimes you just have to fall back on plausible deniability: none of it will be on the test! ;) (Duncan is totally deadpan in his delivery. As much as I enjoy listening to Revolutions™ for its content, it is also very useful for drifting off to sleep.) Song Exploder™ is a fascinating look into different musicians' creative process. The host Hrishikesh Hirway interviews a musician about a favorite song from his/her/their catalog, taking it apart and then putting it back together again. The musician tells the story of how the song was created, from the conception and writing, through the recording and post-production. Ologies™ is all about science. The host, Alie Ward, interviews a different scientist from a different field each week, asking them interesting questions we all want to know. Alie is definitely the star here; her narration and production is fantastic, and her little whispered asides to the audience are both hilarious...and sexXxy. ;)

Marcus Elliott

There's a non-true crime one I like called Imaginary Worlds. He talks about all sorts of fiction...Dr Who, Harry Potter, The Expanse, movies, super heroes, animation.... it's really well done.

Heather Scagel

Tapes from the Darkside. One man show, great writing, great narration, solid production value overall a 10/10. I can’t believe he’s just a kid doing it at home! And TZ seems like a nice person

Lisa himes

Thank you for recommending Swindled. I decided to check it out for the first time and really liked it.

I 100% agree! EARONS, it introduced me to the case in the most amazingly produced multi episodes with fantastic writing and narration, it was one of my absolute top experiences as a podcast listener, then GSK got caught.. it was something else. I also agree about the Belanglo episodes, so scary and again, the writing, the details, the narration,; best of the best. The closest thing I’ve found to Casefile best of the best experience is Josh Hallmark’s True Crime Bullsh**, and the addictive enigma of Keyes. I will check out Bear Brook, thank you for sharing!

Liv Sorli

Moms and Murder is good it’s a couple of Florida based Mums talking about true crime. Also Birds eye view this is from the women in Darwin prison.

Katrina Walkling

I loved Casefile's™ original five-(5)-episode EARONS arc. I had never heard anything about the case before, and Casey's narration was the perfect way to experience it for the first time. That led me to Criminology's™ entire season they devoted to the same subject...and then hit the *JACKPOT* when DeAngelo was captured in the midst of it. (Talk about being in the right place at the right time!) Years later, all this exposure to the GSK and genetic genealogy laid the foundation for Bear Brook™, which I consider to be the most "premium offering" limited-run in the true crime podcast space. Fantastic reporting of a truly fascinating story. Another single-offender focus title I like a lot is True Crime Bullsh**™. The case is just mind-boggling, both the scope of Keyes' crimes and the depth of Josh' research. I have to shout you guys out again for your Belanglo arc: easily the most terrifying true crime story I've ever heard. I'm not sure how you're going to top it.

Marcus Elliott

She did an episode recently on someone my father knew. Was quite surreal listening to it.

Seconding Inside The Black Box! Episodes take a while to come out but they are so professional and so thorough they're worth the wait. The host deserves so much more attention than he's gotten so far. Focus is on aviation disasters but the host is considering expanding to other industrial disasters.

Stephanie Carrin

Something Was Wrong. Swindled. Going West, Canadian True Crime.

Kate

Trail went cold :) I like podcasts without any fluff like yours.

PoseidonXcomics

Murder Mile is one of my favorites. Host Michael, is from England. His stories all take place within a square mile of the east end. He's a great storyteller. Highly recommend.

True Crime Bullsh**. Josh Hallmark is an amazing researcher, journalist, writer, storyteller, survivor and investigative writer. Very human, and honest, even the music at the end always blows my mind.. The Israel Keyes case and potential victims are still an enigma... and the case is still very much unresolved

Liv Sorli

I know right! I’m always gutted that they / he only release every few months at the moment

Doug rice

LOVE Dark Topic and Jack Luna!!

Karen S

Is dark histories considered under rated?

Cory Weisskirk

Invisible Choir.

John Bourscheid

Agree with this one. They are the Casefile of aviation disasters. The Columbia one was incredible.

They walk among us

Jorge Chavez

+1 (with an anonymous host as well)

Claire

Southern Fried True Crime (US). Erica is an amazing storyteller and ‘good people’.

Claire

Oh! I had not heard that... interesting. yikes.

Olive

All Killa No Filla! A British show that is well researched, sensitively handled but still very funny.

Amber

The host (Ali) of Stolen Lives was removed from her previous podcast (Insight) for plagiarism. I'm quiet surprised she's back with a new show.

Amber

Let’s Not Meet

Karen S

Blowback, Culpable, Darknet Diaries, Gone Cold, Hunting Warhead, and They Walk Among Us for True Crime; Knifepoint Horror for short fiction.

Ryan Nathaniel Kelley

Melbourne-based True Blue Crime. Highly engaging.

Bear Brook. This podcast is about a complicated, grisly set of murders and unidentified familial remains that has only been partially solved.

Annette: Cold Case Unlocked This is a 4-episode series about a girl who went missing in the town where I grew up. He remains were found several years later, but it remains unsolved. The journalist works for the local newspaper, and it was very good, and perhaps wider distribution might generate new leads. https://podcasts.apple.com/au/podcast/annette-cold-case-unlocked/id1478389665

Mens Rea - A True Crime Podcast. Irish podcast. Sinead McHugh is amazing.

Jennifer Stark

Crimelines, Obscura, True Crime Island

Alicia Shaver

My podcast Brain Nugs! It's a blend of true crime and weird stories... just think of how perplexed you'd be to listen to 'Scientology and Neopets". I may be biased but I think its good 😉

Austin Peppers

They Walk Among Us is hardly unknown, but should be more popular than they are, imo. Polished production, strong research, and coverage of plenty of underexposed cases.

Zachary Snowdon Smith

That Crime Couple Pod

Sarah

Stolen Lives/Mysteriously Listed !!! - great one-host storytelling and they are so inclusive of undertold stories and often forgotten victims.
