JANUARY AMA

It's time to get those questions in for the January AMA. This is the recorded version for the $5 tier. (We are still working on the best alternative for the typed AMA's available to all tiers, now that patreon has removed the go live feature).

The anonymous host will be on to talk about how brilliant that Patriots win was on the weekend - and of course, answer your questions. Joining him this month will be one of the full time writers, Milly or Elsha. Maybe even both.

Fire your questions in below.

Are you pleased with yourself about how many expletives you drew from your listeners due to the cliffhanger in Silk Road Part 2? More seriously, was this style of ending your intention? I ask because as terrible as it was to wait for past 3, it was also freaking fantastic.

What’s the go with case 55? Any chance of it being reworked or reworded So it can be released again?

Jess Elms

Any chance someone from the Casefile team will venture out to Crime Con or a similar event in the future? Casey, do you follow American football? Go Patriots!

Ashley Hermes

The Silk Road episodes really stood out for me as different from anything you’d do before or since. Any plans to look at similar cases? E.g. cyber crime, business related crimes etc

Thomas McVey

Hi Casey, since you're a fan of punk and sports, did you skateboard at all ?

Haruka

Hi Casefile People, I cannot tell you adequately how much I love love love your podcast. I subscribe to many different podcasts of different genres( but mostly true crime- who am I kidding) and yours is my favorite by far. The writing, the pace, the music. All of it. Thank you so much for your hard work. My question is re the writing. Casey are you involved in the writing at all anymore or are you strictly narrating what others are writing. Is it more of a collaboration? Do you Skype ( or whatever the correct term is now) when working on episodes. Teleconference? Etc. I would love to know the process from start to finish. Idea of a case to finished product. Thanks again ❤️

Who would win in a fight: Scott Morrison or Donald Trump?

Nick P

So the first case I listened to was Anneliese Michel, and been hooked ever since. Decided to join the Patreon finally to show support. But back to Anneliese—like most who listened I thought “holy fuck, this girl’s possessed!” and the recordings scared the shit out of me. Immediately thought of The Exorcist, like I’m sure others did. Which is a long-winded setup to ask: 1. What’s everyone’s favorite horror movie? 2. What tangible thing scares all of you? (snakes, deep water, fluffy kittens, etc.)

Amanda Taylor

Hey! I’ve listened to every episode of this podcast, and there is only one episode I haven’t been able to get through to the end: The Janabi Family. Something about that episode just made me nauseated and to this day I haven’t finished it. I know someone asked this on the last AMA, but your response was kind of broad. You said that there are some times that you have to walk away and be done for the day. Which episode took you longest to get through? Barring pronunciation issues, but the case itself? What episode did you have to walk away from more than once, if any?

Rowan

First of all...The Saints should be going to the Super Bowl. They got royally screwed last weekend. Second of all again let me tell you how much I love this podcast. You guys do an amazing job! My question for the host is… Are you married? And if so doesHe or she like true crime as well?

Jan LeBlanc

I’m thinking a crossover with Casey and Kristi from Canadian True Crime would be excellent!!!!! 🤞🏻

Karen S

Will you consider doing a Reddit AMA at any point?

Amanda Taylor

Hi Casey, how are you coping with record heat wave? I heard it's even too hot for you Stralians right now? Thanks and keep up the good work!

Anne Joroch

That freaked me out bc I know a Stephanie Scott and I haven’t heard from her in a while, but she’s Canadian, lol

Rowan

Wanda, I highly recommend Evil Has a Name by Paul Holes. The audiobook goes into great detail about how EARONS/GSK was captured.

Lindsay Burke

Are there any earlier Casefile episodes you would consider re-visiting and re-recording? Why or why not?

Lindsay Burke

What music genres do the Casefile team enjoy listening to? Any particular artists that you enjoy more?

Tearyawna Scott

Greetings from Scotland! Will you cover another Scottish case in the future? I know you did the Ella Tundra one, which I’d never heard of before despite living only 25 miles (or 40km 😉) from Glenrothes. I did suggest a case via Facebook messenger a while back about the strange tale of Robert Mone, which I think would make for an interesting episode. Thanks for producing such a fantastic podcast.

Iain Strachan

Will you ever do a crossover with another podcast and maybe have a guest co-host in future?

Jess Miller Chiller

I remember that Casefile had to remove episode 55 - Murder of Simone Strobel for legal reasons. There was an unofficial suspect(?) who put in a complaint because he was named in the episode. You can find the guys name on reddit.

Jess Miller Chiller

Do you remember when the news broke on EAR suspect? What were your initial thoughts?

Jenny

Have you ever had someone indirectly involved in a case contact you, unhappy with the coverage of a case?

Alana

I'd love more stories that are unheard of rather than the ones plastered all over the news, is the problem with these merely just gaining the information for them?

Alana

How often do the comments in the FB groups make you laugh? As an Aussie I dont get the fascination with your voice from the overseas listeners.

Alana

Will you cover capture of Golden state killer or is there just not enough information yet? I would love to know the full story how they nab that bast..rd

Wanda

You mentioned in a previous AMA that sometimes the police will contact u to cover a case, which of the cases that you've covered have been police requests?

Rumneet Ghumman

Any thoughts about covering the 2015 murder of stephanie scott? The school teacher from Leeton nsw who was murdered by the cleaner who worked at the same school?

Joel Seemo

Same. The new episodes are far from unlistenable, but it can come off as kind of narmy. The episode with Richard Brittain comes to mind; Casey trying to make Beatles lyrics sound creepy just made me laugh instead

I was thinking the same thing yesterday! I personally find the more laid back versions easier to listen to, but that's just like, my opinion, man!

Peak Charcoal

As I noted in a post on the casefile subreddit, I've noticed your delivery change over the series. At first it was very laid back and casual, and later became more formal and rehearsed, and as of late has also taken on a noticably creepy/menacing tone. Was this an intentional decision, or just an organic change in how you read the episodes? Will you ever go back to the more casual, unembellished delivery?
