Hello. Anonymous host here. Ready to go.

I WANNA BE MRS. ANONYMOUS! You know you want me... ;) you read me bedtime stories every night. Even my ten month old son knows and is comforted by your voice.... I'm going to catch you like a leprechaun!

Mrs Anonymous

There will be one a month. Usually towards the end of the month, so keep an eye out.

Casefile True Crime

Darn I missed it

Karl

bye!!!!

Preethi C.

Thanks to you and your team for all your efforts; I definitely appreciate it. Hope you beat the Mondayitis and have a good day :)

WillOwl11

Bye all

Brett_T

Thankyou all for tuning in. Thankyou all for listening and Thankyou all for supporting us on Patreon. Stay tuned for the photo.

Casefile True Crime

Thanks anonymous keep up the great work and thanks to your team as well.

Brett_T

We might wrap it up unless there is anymore questions. By the way I'll be posting another hint as soon as we are done about the upcoming reward for all patrons. No matter what level.

Casefile True Crime

Or more Victoria horrors Rena Virk or the one I sent you (and the sickest) , Kimberly Proctor

Brett_T

haha I'm sure

Preethi C.

That rings a bell too. I'm sure that one is on our list too (although it is now a huge list)

Casefile True Crime

πŸ’ͺ🏾 yessss I love interrogation audio

Preethi C.

I'd love to hear u guys cover the Lucie Blackman/Tokyo bar girl murders. "People Who Eat Darkness" was a page turner & I've been fascinated with this case since reading that book

Preethi C.

Some worse than others, we're a small island 760,000 people and a lot of horrible crimes

Brett_T

Case 50 has more extended interrogation audio like the Sherri Rasmussen episode.

Casefile True Crime

Any hints as to upcoming cases we can look forward to?

Preethi C.

You're welcome :)

WillOwl11

Yeah unfortunately every country has its share of evil.

Casefile True Crime

Thanks. When I first started listening to the podcasts, I thought there a a lot of sick people in Australia, but the in future episode you did on Vancouver island , we're not to different, must be an island thing lol

Brett_T

Will check that out. Thanks.

Casefile True Crime

Yeah it only just came through. Answered above.

Casefile True Crime

Yeah he is an inspirational guy. How he has gone about things. Confronting the people he has. I hope he gets justice.

Casefile True Crime

Not sure if my reply went through, it's not listed. I can't believe the dedication that Jeff has put into finding his daughters killer, but I guess that is what you do as a father

Brett_T

I'm not sure about the website you're asking about but there are resources in the following website: <a href="http://myweb.wvnet.edu/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">http://myweb.wvnet.edu/</a>~jelkins/adcrimlaw3/webresources.html I hope this is the case you're talking about!

WillOwl11

He is a truly dedicated man to findin out what happened to his daughter, and I hope we do one day

Brett_T

I couldn't agree more.

Brett_T

No I contacted Jeff. We have only been contacted directly by family members a few times.

Casefile True Crime

good question!

Preethi C.

Yeah I was thinking that. That's not good. It was only recently that I was on the site. A few months at most.

Casefile True Crime

Do families contact you , in the case of unsolved murders, as was maybe was the case with Lindsay Buziak?

Brett_T

Curiosity is an interesting thing and it's easier to be curious about horrific things when you're personally so far removed from it. I think as long as it's healthy curiosity and affects no one else, it's good to welcome it while giving thanks that the truly sick ones are very less in number :)

WillOwl11

wow impressive!

Preethi C.

I'm curious too - may have been removed after the case was adjudicated

Preethi C.

This one gets asked a bit actually. No one has any experience of the sort. Just a natural knack for research and writing.

Casefile True Crime

I know this is an ask me anything. But I have a question. Does anyone know what happened to that west Memphis 3 website. With all the case documents and interrogations uploaded? It was wwwCallahan.8k.com or something similar.

Casefile True Crime

I previously asked if any of you guys (don't have to say who) has a background as a journalist, law enforcement, investigator, etc

Preethi C.

Mine as well.

Brett_T

Mine keeps crashing too

Preethi C.

Re ask them. Speaking of mondayitis....

Casefile True Crime

By the way my Patreon app is having lots of gremlins today. Mondayitis. I've been kicked out about ten times. I'm not sure if I've lost questions or not. If any have gone unanswered feel free to re answer them.

Casefile True Crime

Thanks for joining in Sam and thanks for listening.

Casefile True Crime

Thank you Kym. I agree. It's terrible how often in this genre victims and their families are simply a footnote. That's something we don't subscribe too. That's always the best compliment we get the respect to the victims and their families.

Casefile True Crime

Yes hats off to the team as well, you all do an amazing job.

Brett_T

Thanks Manjari (i think) - anything to do with true is crime is creepy - yet it's such a popular topic - even as far back as Agatha Christie!

Kym McCauley

As it's midnight here in the UK it's time for some sleep. Thank you Mr Anon. Keep doing what you're doing and it makes long commutes enjoyable!

Sam

It's difficult. So much work goes into each episode. Many many hours. It's hard to keep up with one per week especially while working full time. But lucky i have an amazing team working with me.

Casefile True Crime

Basically take the "leave no Stone unturned" approach. Everything we can find on a case we read/watch/study. Books. Documentaries. News reports. Court rulings. Forums. Random websites. And whatever else we find.

Casefile True Crime

Hello! I was going to be just a silent spectator but I have to say this. You usually have some amazing questions and facts Kym (creepy creepy facts!) and I appreciate the knowledge transfer so thank you :)

WillOwl11

I've always thought it's too easy of a way out. Lock them in a cell for life. But then again it's not like I'd loose any sleep if people like Brady and Hindley were executed. Tough question when you think about it. I'm sure your point of view would be very different if you were a family member of a victim too.

Casefile True Crime

I'm so impressed by the obvious respect you have for the families of the victims - I think it's terrible that these killers are kept in the limelight by periodic attention by the media but seldom do people remember the names or details about those who've suffered because of their actions - I think that the podcasts do this very respectfully

Kym McCauley

Yeah definitely. The number one thing in our mind when doing episodes is respect to the victims. Too often in this genre they are simply glossed over like they don't matter. Which I think is terrible.

Casefile True Crime

I'm amazed at the amount of detail that you put into the show, how do you research them?

Brett_T

What's your view on the death penalty? Should some of the killers you've covered have been killed themselves?

Sam

One thing I've noticed is that you always tell the background "family" story on the main players of each episode you create. I think that's really unique - the level of detail you often give - and really gives us a more complete picture of the person you're describing. Is that why you do it?

Jamee K

that sounds awful (shudder)

Preethi C.

Yeah definitely. It's good for our health to mix them up a bit too.

Casefile True Crime

The painting that is.

Casefile True Crime

That's Incredibly disrespectful. I believe anyway. Others obviously disagree if it was allowed to be displayed.

Casefile True Crime

I've not figured out what keeps me drawn to the show, morbid curiosity or what but I'm glad that you mix them up with ones like the north Hollywood shootout , because I don't think I could listen to too many cases like Katherine knight or Snowtown, there are truly evil people in this world.

Brett_T

Wow. What a fucking horrible idea. Who Comes up with shot like that.

Casefile True Crime

Don't be sorry. The more questions the better. My friends know. Most of my family knows. But still Not everyone. I answered the other bit just above.

Casefile True Crime

There was a painting called Myra exhibited in the Royal Academy of Art in London during 1997 that caused huge controversy - it was her mugshot enlarged to 2.7 by 3.4 m and the entire work was made using casts of an infant's hand to build up a mosaic of black, grey and white handprints - people resigned from the Academy over it and Winnie Johnson (the mother of one of the victims) asked for it to be removed

Kym McCauley

Hi Dan. the fact there is no host allows for the story to be what the show is about. Not a personality. Which was always my goal.

Casefile True Crime

Some are cases I've heard about that I really didn't know anything about but wanted to learn more. Wanda Beach and Snowtown are examples there. Some I remember when they were happening and wanted to cover them myself. North Hollywood shootout as an example. Some I randomly stumble across while researching other cases. Bella and Lauria Bible and Ashley Freeman examples there. Some are suggested by listeners. Keith Warren and Lindsay Buziak are examples there. So it's a whole mix of different things. Some are suggested by listeners that are cases we always had marked down to cover. The Moors is the most recent example of that.

Casefile True Crime

Sorry to bombard you with questions! But is the anonymity thing to do with your job? Do your friends and family know you do the podcast or do you keep it all to yourself and your team?

Sam

Hmmm good question alright. My feeling on it is that Brady definitely still would have 100% but Hindley maybe not. Although she obviously had it in her, so maybe she still would have. I'm not sure on Hindley. But Brady yes.

Casefile True Crime

Hi, Dan from Australia here. Proud Patreon. I think the fact that you retain your anonymity enhances the intrigue of the program. Is that the intention there or is it purely that you don't want to be known, or a combination of both?

Dan Lynch

I'm a big fan of the Joe Rogan experience. There are so many episodes though I'm always behind at least 5 episodes. Usually more. Hardcore history is one I get excited about when there is a new episode.

Casefile True Crime

Love the podcasts I'm up to #39, how do you choose the cases.

Brett_T

And we're all glad you did! You should got part time at your job and more time on Casefile. Maybe if more Patrons come along... :)

Sam

Good question!

Jamee K

i like that it's a secret! makes it more fun!

Preethi C.

No it was definitely off the cuff. I had no experience in anything like it before. I had no idea what I was doing and wasn't expecting to get any further then 3 episodes. But I'm glad I decided to try it. It was 'lucky' that I had time off work due to an injury. I needed something to fill my time. So I decided to try it. Now I need more time!!

Casefile True Crime

The Brady Hindley relationship has been the subject of books, documentaries, chat shows and a made for tv film - the common theme is whether the two of them were/are just intrinsically evil or whether their relationship brought about their shocking acts - in other words - would they have done those terrible things if they hadn't met? Any thoughts?

Kym McCauley

Are there podcasts you binge on and get excited about when a new episode is released (the way we all do with Casefile)?

Jamee K

Have you ever done anything like Casefile before you started? Or was it just an off the cuff decision to start a podcast?

Sam

Hi Brett.

Casefile True Crime

are any of u and your time investigative journalists, in law enforcement, or similar?

Preethi C.

Hi Jamee. Yes I work full time still. All of the other team members have other jobs and projects as well. It is definitely challenging.

Casefile True Crime

rain & tornado warnings here in Oklahoma β˜”οΈ

Preethi C.

Yes and yes and yes! It's pretty crazy. It is definitely challenging, but rewarding as well. It's so cool you are all willing to donate to the show. It's very motivating.

Casefile True Crime

Hi everyone typing in from rainy Victoria BC

Brett_T

Thank you anonymous πŸ˜€

Casefile True Crime

Me too Sam & Jamee

Preethi C.

Excellent :-)

Kym McCauley

Occasional perks such as stickers etc will be the main feature of that level now.

Casefile True Crime

We are on the same page, Sam! Haha!

Jamee K

Yeah I will re edit that level today and put it back without the newsletter.

Casefile True Crime

I think I remember you saying in an early episode that you create this podcast while maintaining a full-time job. Is that still the case?

Jamee K

Do you still have a full time job alongside Casefile? And have you pretty much got zero free time now because of it? I guess the podcast could and has changed your life?

Sam

Listening to the show is the best part of my day. Thanks for doing such great work, it's really appreciated.

Anonymous

Can you let us know about the pledging please - I notice there's still no $10 option - although lots of listeners have said that we're happy to go on paying that amount without the newsletter!

Kym McCauley

haha me too πŸ˜‚

Preethi C.

Hi Kym. All good can be here for a while if there is enough questions. Thankyou. Always good to hear as we always try to make our next episode the best one.

Casefile True Crime

cool, that was a good one

Preethi C.

Helter Skelter.

Casefile True Crime

Bahaha! I was wondering the same thing! πŸ˜‚

Jamee K

Hi all - joined a bit late this morning (from Sydney) - the last two podcasts about the moors murders is really your best I think

Kym McCauley

Haha. No it's not that secret. The whole anonymous thing isn't that interesting of a story. But I might be able to tell it one day.

Casefile True Crime

Agreed! Such an awesome series. Your way of telling a story is superb.

Jamee K

Thankyou Adam. We aim to improve with every episode.

Casefile True Crime

Do all your team know your identity? Do you have to turn the light out when you Skype? Or is it not THAT secret?

Sam

Hi! I listened to part 1&2 of the moors murders yesterday. You guys really do just go from strength to strength! congrats.

Adam Murphy

Do you have a favorite true crime book?

Preethi C.

Lots of emails and skyping. It's actually not too difficult. No doubt it would be better if we could all meet up in person once in a while. But it seems to be working so far. I record my narration then send the file to Mike in the UK. Only takes an hour or two usually. Then he does his thing and sends it to Andrew in the US. The internet is a beautiful thing.

Casefile True Crime

Hi Jamee. It was Snowtown the one that disturbed me most. The Moors may have overtaken it. But too be honest all of them disturb me in some way. None of them are happy stories. I don't really have a favourite. The north Hollywood shootout maybe. Or the the solved ones that we have been able to bring some attention too. Lisa Marie Young. Lindsay Buziak, Helen Munnings.

Casefile True Crime

How difficult is the process for getting a podcast together when your team are all scattered around the world? What's the process? Lots of skypeing?

Sam

Oh wow. I didn't realise you had such a large American following. Love the podcasts though.

Sam

Hi Anon! Huge fan from the US here. I was wondering what your favorite episode has been so far. And / or, which one disturbed you the most?

Jamee K

Hi Dana. Thankyou. The research team is by far the most time consuming thing we do. Basically we find every piece of information we can about a case. Put it all together and write the script from that. It can take anywhere from 1 week to 10 weeks (for the big three partners). It's a grind and a lot of hard work but worth it when the episode comes together.

Casefile True Crime

Sorry that was supposed to say my first true crime hook.

Casefile True Crime

Hi Rachel. My first true crime book was a tv mini series that aired here in Australia called Blue Murder. It was about a series of crimes and criminals and one notorious crooked cop in Sydney during the 80s/early 90's. It was a fictional show based on true events. After that I read all the relevant books on the people involved. I think the show is still on YouTube. That was my first hook.

Casefile True Crime

Hi Sam. Last we checked it was something like 60 per cent US. 10 per cent Australia. 10 per cent Canada. UK was about 5 per cent. This aren't exact. Just rough. It was a while ago now. But I'm certain our U.K. Listener base is much higher now. Which no doubt coincides with the UK cases we have done recently.

Casefile True Crime

American too!!! Love everything u do. Would love to hear about the team and research process.

Dana Maldonado

Thanks, you all do a great job!

Preethi C.

I would like to know what got you into true crime, Mr Anonymous

Rachel Overmier

Hi Preethi. Thank you. I found Mike, or he actually found me, when I was looking for someone to help with sound quality and production. That was at episode 7. Andrew was introduced to us through a mutual friend about episode 20. Around episode 30 I realised I couldn't go on researching writing and recording every episode alone and Vicky happened to get in touch with us offering her services. So that worked out perfect. Same with Anna. She emailed us a few months ago and we were actually thinking we could use some more help at the time. It was like it was all meant to be.

Casefile True Crime

I'm American as well :)

Preethi C.

I'm American Sam:)

Rachel Overmier

Hi Mr Anon! I'm listening from West Yorkshire, UK (where the Yorkshire ripper murders occurred). Are there many other UK listeners or are most Australian? Are you able to tell?

Sam

Hi thanks for the AMA and fantastic podcast. How did your team come together?

Preethi C.
