Unsolved or Solved? Casefile Poll.
Added 2017-02-07 21:29:35 +0000 UTCDo you prefer unsolved cases or solved ones as Casefile episode?
It's always a dilemma when we select a case for a new episode.
On the one hand, it's good to bring awareness to unsolved cases, on the other hand, solved crimes give you a sense of completeness.
What are your thoughts?

Thank you Katrina.

2017-02-26 06:35:03 +0000 UTCUnsolved frustrate me but I do enjoy them. I like thinking about what has been presented and what may have happened. Now I've finally caught up on all the episodes I tried a few other podcasts to fill the void and got 3 minutes in to a couple before I turned them off. I like that you don't push an agenda or just ramble and discuss things. So any case is good but I like the mystery a little I guess

2017-02-25 09:06:02 +0000 UTCI like both because it shows that the police and justice system don't always get it right. I think my favourite cases are the stories where the police had such difficulty solving the case but in the end through meticulous work they brought the right person to justice.

2017-02-16 22:57:13 +0000 UTCI much prefer solved cases. As others have also said, the unsolved ones frustrate me. Thanks again for putting together such a fantastic podcast. I listen to a lot of podcasts but this one is my favourite by far.

2017-02-10 20:48:30 +0000 UTCUnsolved cases are the ones that we want to bring awareness to, there are still so many cold cases out there.

2017-02-10 19:38:08 +0000 UTCBoth! If you deem a story worthy enough to spend as much time researching, writing and preparing it as you do, we'll enjoy hearing about it!

2017-02-09 12:20:02 +0000 UTCI really only enjoy solved, unsolved drives me mad!

2017-02-09 10:12:25 +0000 UTCWhat makes a case interesting to me is its uniqueness, deriving from various aspects, such as setting, time in history, circumstantial details etc. That’s why “The Somerton man” is my all-time favourite. Cases can be mysterious and thrilling in solved and unsolved state. You are very good in choosing them anyway!

2017-02-09 07:43:20 +0000 UTCBoth. You're storytelling is so great I am captivated by both solved and unsolved
Vinnie Romero
2017-02-08 21:17:37 +0000 UTCI like both. It's nice to have closure with the solved cases and learn about the forensic/ investigative process behind catching the killers. With cold cases, maybe you can help solve the case by putting forth all the facts--from the murder book, interviews, and other primary sources, if you can get those, as well as newspaper accounts.

2017-02-08 18:32:22 +0000 UTCI like both, but I prefer solved. Hearing how everything fell into place is a great experience.

2017-02-08 16:23:47 +0000 UTCIm a fan of both. The solved gives us the complete picture and all the known facts but the unsolved one gives us suspense with all the potential suspects. Agree that no spoiler alerts too early make the story intriguing to the end!

2017-02-08 10:40:18 +0000 UTCI enjoy facts no matter what the ending. This is life. Outcomes will not be reconciled to our satisfaction sometimes

2017-02-08 09:34:23 +0000 UTCWithout the supporters, the show wouldn't exist, we try not to forget about that:)
Casefile True Crime
2017-02-08 09:26:44 +0000 UTCI'm much more partial to solved cases. I particularly enjoy when you bounce the narration back and forth between the killer and the victims. Yorkshire Ripper and Peter Falconio being two examples.

2017-02-08 03:00:36 +0000 UTCI like both, but recent unsolved cases make me paranoid! EEK!
Heidi Busch
2017-02-08 01:28:28 +0000 UTCI enjoy both. I really like the depths that can be delved into with knowing who the offender/s of a crime may be. I also like how mysterious an unsolved case is too.
Adam Murphy
2017-02-08 00:21:31 +0000 UTCI used to only like the solved ones, cos it'd freak me out knowing there were murderers on the loose, but I think the unsolved ones can be more powerful in terms of keeping the story out there for the families. Both are great, and you all are doing such a great job :)

2017-02-08 00:18:50 +0000 UTCI guess I'm with the majority here in that I prefer the solved ones. I'm not the kind of person who sees an unsolved case as a personal challenge (to go and seek out clues myself) so for me unsolved ones are just frustrating. That said I think you've done a great job with some older unsolved cases (like Somerton man) where you've separated fact from folklore (I grew up in Adelaide so know lots of made up stuff about this case). I'd be really curious to see what you'd make of perhaps the best known unsolved case from Adelaide, the disappearance of the Beaumont children in 1966.

2017-02-07 23:35:02 +0000 UTCI enjoy both, and I think it's great that you release update episodes as well.

2017-02-07 23:26:21 +0000 UTCI enjoy both, but I guess I don't want to know
Crime&Stuff
2017-02-07 23:15:10 +0000 UTCAs long as you're narrating them, I'm good with either. Thanks for doing such a great job. Always look forward to your latest episode.

2017-02-07 22:57:42 +0000 UTCI like the constant interaction you have with your fans when it comes to making critical decisions. It shows how much you care and the kind of work you put in to make us happy. I'm very happy to be your listener. As for the question, I would like a mix of both to keep it interesting. That way we get a sense of closure while also getting to know about some of the unsolved cases not commonly spoken about.

2017-02-07 22:30:52 +0000 UTCDefinitely into solved cases more than unsolved. I can't stand it when there's no resolution!
Laura Davis
2017-02-07 21:50:25 +0000 UTCI do enjoy resolution but also there have been some great mysteries like the Somerton man (even went to see his grave when in Adelaide last month!)
David Lea
2017-02-07 21:38:43 +0000 UTCI enjoy a mix of both. Unsolved cases have that suspense element... But solved cases show where the Criminal Justice system succeeds or even fails (Wetterling Case an example of the latter). It is also good to be reminded sometimes that the cops do catch the perps and Boogeymen aren't hiding around every bush.

2017-02-07 21:36:20 +0000 UTCI feel the same Noelle. Unsolved cases leave me much more melancholy, because there was no resolution, but I enjoy the story telling no matter what.
Bekah English
2017-02-07 21:35:54 +0000 UTCI do enjoy both, but I also like resolution. I've always enjoyed getting to the end and finding out "whodunit" over getting to the end and having no answers. Closure is nice when possible.
