Sometimes I just pencil something and erase arms and redraw arms and erase arms and redraw arms until I find a good positioning, and then erase arms and then redraw arms because I've just accidentally settled into a pose I use too often. Sometimes I find reference model images, because that first routine can be a bit annoying.
