Plans for 2019

Happy 2019 perverts!

I have started writing this post in early january 2019… I could not find the time/energy to finish it till tonight. I need to find a way to make myself do these things better.

Last year was rather uneventful wasn’t it? I pretty much just kept Alfie updated, more or less on schedule and drew a did a couple of small projects on the side. 2018 felt like I am just maintaining course. That’s not enough for me. I want to do more in the coming year. I feel like I’ve been stagnating.

I thought I’d share some of my plans with you. In order of importance:

1. I will be starting a SFW horror/fantasy themed webcomic sometime in the second half of 2019. It will be my second most important project after Alfie. I’ll be starting the work on it after The Invitation part 2 is finished, which won’t be for months. I am not sure what it means exactly for my pornographic content output. Alfie remains a priority but for anything else it’s too early to tell. I know that in the far future I see myself spending half of my time on porn and half on SFW projects. But that won’t be for years.

I’ll let you know more about the comic when I have something to show.

This news is not something a lot of you want to hear, but it’s really important to me. My patreon output will not change much for a couple of months but afterwards it will. I thought it’s fair to let you know sooner.

2. I’ll be trying to engage more with the fanbase. In ways that don’t make me horribly uncomfortable. I hate social media. I think the connectivity that fans and creators have nowadays is really unhealthy. BUT at the same time I want there to be something more than there is now. First idea I want to try is to do a {maybe) monthly recorded QnA video where I answer some of your questions. I think that would be a nice compromise. Also it would allow me to practice video editing skills. I’d like to do some video content in the future. Possibly tutorial related but not necessarily.

3. Last couple of years I’ve stagnated artistically. I think I’ve made progress with my storytelling ability, but artistically I am not where I want to be. I’ll pushing myself to study and get out of my comfort zone more. It’s not something that ill really have any impact on this patreon, but I feel like I should mention it if I am talking about my future plans.

4. To make room for the first 3 points on the list I am seriously thinking of scaling Alfie back to 3 pages a week. It would mean my weeks would be split equally between Alfie and any other project… I don’t like the idea to be honest, but I can’t figure out how to squeeze any more out of myself otherwise.

Art is always perverting somehow. The more perverse in artworks the more cultural it is. The article is greatly written and the language is good. I like to live in the art world like this.

VitAnyaNaked

I read you for the story and art. The porn is fun, but I'm super excited to see the SFW content too. You have a lot of fans who like you for what you create now how hard you get them off.

Skye Snark

I'm just happy to see anything you create whenever you can make it, whether it's porn or not. I hope you're fitting good self care in your schedule!

Goblin

Horror/Fantasy??? Sign me up! You've been doing some great things thematically and I'm totally here for them

Jane

You should show more study art!!

phubbe

If you hate social media, it might be worth looking into starting a discord server and inviting patrons/fans/randos to it.

the overpoweredginger

I just learned about you & your comics a couple weeks ago. Youre a genius! Plz take your time and get your rest <3

Honestly it's a winwin you would get more time for yourself, improve on your drawing skills, daydream/think about Alfie more and make another exciting project. In return we only get less Alfie pages, there is more pros than cons. I'm sure you will keepdoing extra greet work !

Alez

I'm still just waiting to see a hard cover physical copy of alfie... Am i dreaming?

the Artist rules, if someone asks me. Keep on creating for our pleasure, Alfie is awesome, and so is the rest of your drawing and painting and writing. Greetings from France.

Happy to support you in what you do, how you do it. Best of Luck!

I just want to stop by and say, it's okay to feel that your art has stagnated. Know that that's just a feeling though. It's very natural to progress slower in the evolution of your aesthetic when you already established a style you are comfortable with. Your style is gorgeous and even though you as the artist probably see lots of ways it can still improve, for the majority of us it's absolutely stunning. I'm a graphic designer myself, and I can relate to the feeling of stagnation. Just please know that your fans don't hold it against you when you take time off sometimes. Also, three pages a week is still a huge effort to be honest. I think we should count ourselves lucky that we can get multiple a week already. Most other webcomics I follow barely even post once a week. Stay awesome InCase!

Aurélie

Do what you gotta do, we support you.

BookofNote

Honestly I've never been able to figure out how you do as many pages as you do. You drop back to a more human level and I'll feel much better about myself. Would love to see a SFW comic as well just to see what you do with the story telling. When your drawing NSFW theres always that pressure to draw NSFW stuff instead of being able to focus on the stor, but when you don't have that pressure i'd love to see what you can do cause your comics are awesome!

Taylor A Art

I adore your work. I will support pretty much anything you do. I have been going through a really dark spot in my life recently and looking forward to Alfie updates have really helped me get through. I want you to be happy with the work you do so you want to keep doing it. Dropping Alfie down to 3 days is just fine by me. I can't wait to see your new works and ideas.

Latissha

In my opinion you could drop to two pages a week, like some others do and I think that'd still be pretty great. Especially if it was less about better output and more about getting rest and all that.

Draccy

Everything you do brings me a lot of joy, thanks for doing whatever you're able--what you've been doing already seems like so much! Looking forward to everything coming up!

Your quality and consistent speed inspires me!

Zen

With the consistent quality and beauty of your work, 3 a week is already incomprehensible to me, and I say that as a fellow artist and illustrator.

OH IM SO EXCITED FOR NEW STORY!! I love your work and story telling, getting to see another side of it is super awesome, but please please never feel bad for scaling back a workload. Even 3 pages a week is SO MUCH please keep yourself in good health!!

Boo Rider

I just really like your art and storytelling, and I think you've really consolidate your fanbase on this, so don't worry. Plus 3 pages a week is already above the standard fo good quality web comic artists.

Pwet

Im looking forward to that horror/fantasy comic!

Pace yourself in a way that makes sense in the long term, no one wants to see you burn out <3

SiberianHussy

1 day less of Alfie and two-times more project ? Seems like a cool deal for me. Plus, you need to draw what makes YOU happy, first of all. Oh, and. Yeah, I can understand how you think you are stagnating, but, actually, I think these lasts months were amazing art-wise. Have a nice day <3

YOOOOO Incase that just makes me excited! I always liked your artistic input and to hear you want to try out new things is hella intriguing. Sending the good vibes, don't be too harsh on yourself, the work you already do is more than enough. Good luck!

I would rather have 3 Alfie a week, than you burn yourself out and then get no Alfie a week. Gotta look after yourself first :)

Amy Rochon

I'm here for quality art, storytelling, and hot action. As long as those don't slip, do what you need to do.

Tinwhisker

You deserve to be happy, artists arent out there to serve their public (unlike what some people think!) We love what you do, so please, create, create and share with us!

3 comics a week is still great to me. Keep up the awesome work!

We love whatever you put out, guy! You're an amazing creator, and these plans only show how committed you are to continue making.

miles

I'm definitely looking forward to SFW art as well - your stories _are_ getting better, and I'd love to see where you can take 'em.

Pavel Lishin

As a fan of fun: thank you for caring about us!

Balays

"Last couple of years I’ve stagnated artistically" WTF are you taking about??? Reading Alfie (yes i agree its a masterpiece) i can clearly see how you progress artisticly. Every page is now a joy for the eye

Jona Lindholm

This all sounds really great!

I can’t wait to see more, the new project sounds really good

Ronan Keane

Alfie is an all time fav but if you want to scale it back to 3 pages a week that's totally understandable. I'm here for the art and the story telling from a great artist! Take breaks and stay happy and healthy!

odd-rose

Please do what you think best; we will continue to enjoy and benefit from your creativity.

Alfie is a masterpiece. I’m looking forward to your next project.

Only you know what you're craving to create. It is great to hear that you are growing and developing as an artist and looking for projects that keep your creative spark growing. It is clear your storytelling abilities have been growing and you've got enough master of it to be able to keep a story flowing without porn keeping it afloat. Your NSFW is a delight to see and you're incredible with it, but it is really exciting to see you considering other branches of art, specially when you are planning to do it without overworking yourself to the ground.

Jill the Succubus

Alfie is great for the balance in storytelling and porn; the SFW horror story seem very interesting, keep going man!

Matteo Manino

As long as you're producing great content like you have before, I'm happy! I really hope you don't get a lot of back lash or lose backers for following your passion. If you do, you've got at least one consistent backer in me.

if you need to cut back on Alfie a bit to do what you want that's fine by me.

Ross Kirkland

I love your stuff and would also love a non-porn project! Do what you need to do to keep sane!

Drop back. Most of us would rather see you inspired rather than burned out.

Steven

I admit I am an Incase fanboy, ride or die. Routines need to change sometimes so the work doesn't become "routine". Do what you need to do and feel comfortable with. I look forward to seeing whatever comes next. Your skill and work ethic inspire me in my own creative endeavors.

Joshua Wolfe

As someone who's followed your art for a few years, I have seen how you've improved both in art and in storytelling. I enjoy Alfie quite a bit, though getting fewer updates so you can explore and improve more would be more than welcome. I look forward to every new project you release, be it a one off, image set, or a new series. I'd love to see you expand your art to new places, the important thing is that you're loving what you're doing.

CasualKj

I'd LOVE top see a horror fantasy comic from you! It would also give me something SFW to share with people without pointing people straight at porn when talking about amazing art. It's also great that you're wanting to improve still when I know a lot of us fans would be happy to see this same level of quality forever. If it means losing one Alfie update a week, but getting another comic once or twice a week in it's place that'd be worth it 100%. You gotta be happy too, if you don't like the stagnating, it'll show in your work eventually. I respect your desire for privacy, and I agree some creators get too involved in their communities and end up causing far more drama in the long run. It'd be nice to hear more from you, and the Q&As will be a good outlet for that.

Martin

It's great that you want to try new projects, I would love to see what you can come up with in a SFW comic. I am truly amazed that you think your art is stagnated, I saw such an evolution from the beginning of the comic until now: the introduction of color, the changes in the pallet, how your drawings are more refined and the characters more expressive. I think you evolved a lot.

frank sands

Do what you need to. I would have no objection to Alfie dropping to a 3/week schedule, since I wind up missing a week or so every so often and then playing catch up. Even 1 or 2 per week would still be fine by me. I look forward to seeing your new/other projects too!

Justin Cox

You do you chief. Meanwhile I'm going to donate to some comic reviewers with the caveat that they do a review of Alfie. The first one I'm going to target is cbg19, I have a feeling Alfie is right up her alley.

ЯџВвŁэ&ẄяєςКλğẽ

Do what you need to, I (we) will be there to support you. Growth is hard, self determination is harder. Honestly if you wanted to never talk to us again but keep producing, that's just fine. Social media is toxic unless you have a strong support staff. Just don't take the art away (please). Whatever the pace, whatever the content, keep going. We'll be here.

shedemon

While I think you should do what you think you need to do to make you happy, I'm pretty much here for Alfie primarily, so while I don't like the news of losing an update a week, you do what you gotta do InCase.

Alexander Nielsen

Agreed 2018 was great, and I would love to see you drop even to 3 a week for Alfie if it meant we could get another fantastic comic from you, along the lines of The Invitation.

Garetor

There's absolutely nothing wrong with 3 updates a week!

Austin Ramsay

Yeah, your output is insane - 3 pages a week would be completely acceptable (still impressive). I can barely get all the detail INTO my brain in that time.

Greg Dickens

1. I'm excited to see your new comic! You're my favorite comic artist regardless of the type of content you're making. 2. I'd love to see some kind of a regular Q&A with you. Have you seen CGP Grey's videos? He's an educational youtuber and occasionally does Q&A's. He's got a shtick going where he never shows his face. He has a cartoon avatar instead. 3. It's easy to be hard on ourselves. I think you had a fabulous 2018! Alfie is going strong. Sometimes just cranking out consistently good work can be a great thing. 4. Alfie 3 days a week sounds totally reasonable. I'm kind of amazed you still manage to do so much as it is.

Tristan

Whatever you chose to do, I know it will be gorgeous, and I look forward seeing it! Also, I hope you do something with the gal from 'Good Old Times'. She was quite the cutie.

Brian Christy Burke

I honestly enjoy the idea of you creating a SFW comic. I believe your artstyle is really great and can be used in regular comics too. NSFW or SFW, it always has a distinct style and it's one of my favorites of any online artist I've come across. I also look forward to your Q&A video ideas.

Derek Kaniowski

cool!

Atilio Gambedotti

hurray for 50/50

Shelby

It's great to get these kinds of updates! As an artist myself, it's really valuable to see how more experienced creators weigh their options, and shift their priorities. It's a rough balancing act, for sure! And one that usually happens behind the curtain. Good luck!! Your fans will be here! 👍

Andrea Repetto

I was shocked at this post because I thought your 2018 was a marvel. If anyone had asked me directly I would've said you were a content machine, and I was happy to see all of it. You can be your own worst critic (can't we all), and I don't want to invalidate your perspective, but my point of view is that you are doing a ton and at a high quality, more so on both counts than many creators out there.

Mars

4 updates a week at your level of quality is superhuman. You could drop to 1 update a week and it would still be good output. I'm curious what you mean about the connectivity between creators and fans being a bad thing.

Khazuki

I'm definitely interested in seeing the new comic.

Kenneth Winkelman

I'm in full support of the you do you thing ❤️ I think a fantasy horror comic sounds excellent, even if it's SFW spookiness. I look forward to seeing your work in 2019 😁

Arnold Sullivan

For context, I've been following & supporting Alfie since it was just 'that shortstacks comic' in tumblr, and your art since... well, since a certain Robin-slash-Harley-themed piece back in blogspot. So for what it's worth: Big thumbs up from me on scaling back Alfie so you have time to expand on other areas. You've awed me for years, and I look forward to being awed more, NSFW or not!

You do you my dude. Your art and storytelling is amazing. Sfw or nsfw you’ll still always remain as one of my all time favorite artists.

Miles

I stumbled across Alfie while looking for smut but stayed for the great story, interesting characters and amazing art in general. It's fast become one of the series I follow that make me excited for new installments (regardless of their naughtiness index). Looking extremely forward to the new series

Dark Kuno

A friend tipped me off to "The Invitation" several weeks ago, and I'm utterly delighted with it. I know this will sound strange, but your story has many, MANY parallels to my own relationship I've had with a spirit for the last 16 years. I would love to swap stories and share ideas with you, if you're amenable. Always looking forward to the next pages....

Dana Marks

Do what you need to do to feel fulfilled and grow. I'm here to see whatever you decide to do - experiment away, I'm interested in seeing all of it. If scaling back Alfie is what's needed, I fully support it.

Fester's Lampshade

As someone who knows nothing about art I think that you have improved a lot! It becomes apparent when I go back to earlier Alfie chapters. I think you use colours in really intresting ways. I look forward to seeing more, porn or not.

Reutermo

I love all of you art and story. Alfie was the first I stumbled upon.

Rodger L.

Hey! Just wanted to say I really support you in your venture into the SFW! I'm definitely surprised by the choice, but not in a bad way. Do you think your SFW still include themes of sexuality or gender while not being inherently sexual? Either way, looking forward to hearing more about your upcoming projects!

While I love looking forward to Alfie updates, if working on other projects brings you joy as an artist, go for it. I'm here anyhow, curious to your art style and story telling so I might as well see what else you've got trapped in the ol' noggin. Good luck.
