It's quite interesting to hear such feelings on Shonen characters with a sword, there's a certain One Piece main character who uses three swords at once, and you'll never guess how

2024-10-07 22:43:57 +0000 UTCKaio Ken is not an energy beam! It's more like Ren, but with a risk/reward element based on how well you can control it and for how long. Goku arguably hurts himself with Kaoi Ken x4 as much as he hurt Vegeta despite winning that beam struggle, but manages to "cheese" much higher multipliers in Namek, because he's perfected the technique. Also: at this stage in the show, people from Earth are the only ones that can use "Ren" & "Zetsu"! Which is why Vegeta simply cannot believe that Goku is getting hits in, much less winning. As far as Saiyans are concerned, if you've got a 10k power level that's it! You cannot suppress it or hide it, and you cannot increase it mid-battle. You can half-ass a punch or put in less effort, but a scouter would always show you at 10k. Some races have transformations that can change your power level (like Sayans themselves with the Ozaru) but that's different!
