I always hold Janine and Jack in high regards in terms of their ability to thoughtfully write (Janine's ideas always feel like they shake things up and her delivery really nails calculated bluntness, and Jack is so dynamic and creative in their structuring and ability to play with style), but Ali's compositions catch me off guard in how they manage to absolutely decimate me. She really achieves melancholy very well, and there's something about the way she writes that really invite you deeply into a character's interiority and their struggles to balance their priorities against the weight of their circumstances.
