Live at the Table Episode 1 Poll!
Added 2017-07-16 06:28:48 +0000 UTCHey everyone, Austin again!
If you're receiving this, it's because we need you to vote in a poll to determine what the first game we'll be playing in our one-shot Live at the Table series!
The options this month are a combination of stuff y'all have suggested and things that we've been dying to play for years. There's nothing here that we won't be excited to try out, so please, vote with your heart!
The current plan is to play later tonight (Sunday, 07/16), and to make a YouTube archive available soon after that! So if you can't make it, no worries, the archive will be there for you! We'll also be putting an audio archive in the Patreon RSS feed, so if you'd rather listen than watch, we've got you covered!
The poll will run til 3PM EST today, as to allow us time to do the (thankfully limited) amount of prep necessary for play! We'll also send another message once we have a definite stream time pinned down. I've pasted some promo text about the games and links to their website pages. It's probably worth digging around online for reviews if you're curious about these, and hey, if you have personal experience, go ahead and tell us about it in the comments!
Finally, it's worth noting that Jack, Ali, and Dre are all unavailable for recording tomorrow, so take that into account with your voting!
The Games
Originally released in Japan as Yuuyake Koyake, Golden Sky Stories is a heartwarming, non-violent role-playing game that’s great fun for all ages. It takes place in a small town in rural Japan, and players take on the role of henge (pronounced hen-gay, like a chicken that’s happy), animals with just a little magical power, including the ability to temporarily take human form. They do not fight great battles or unearth valuable treasures though; Golden Sky Stories adventures are all about helping others and becoming friends. Recommended for 3-5 players (including one Narrator). Average play time is 1-2 hours.
Welcome to Misspent Youth: the dystopian sci-fi game that’s all about friendship, standing up for yourself, and changing the world.
(Preview the PDF or check out the full game in print layout over here.)
One of you is The Authority: the person, thing, idea, etc., that’s turning life in the future into a big shit sandwich which everyone is legally compelled to chow down on. The rest of are Youthful Offenders (YOs), teenagers who’ve had enough. You and the other YOs in your clique are the only ones who’re going to get off their asses to do anything about the world burning down around them.
In Downfall, you choose a Flaw you want to explore and build a unique and irredeemably broken world around it. See how Greed destroys a city, how Loyalty corrupts a kingdom, or how Curiosity betrays a galactic empire. You'll craft traditions that bring your society to life, then see how it all comes tumbling down.
The game works in any kind of setting, from mythical fantasy to the real world to high-flying science fiction. It's made to tell a whole story in a single 2-4 hour session and doesn't require preparation, dice, or a GM.
Sinister secret agents with shadowy employers and mysterious pasts. A bizarre landscape built from six- billion human minds. Arachnid-headed beings that guard a war-torn borderzone. And all the worst that Mankind has to offer, stalking the alleys and crumbling buildings of a place called Blue City.
Is it a dream? Is it a nightmare? Or is it just a game? And are you already playing?
The Warren is a tabletop role-playing game about intelligent rabbits trying to make the best of a world filled with hazards, predators and, worst of all, other rabbits. It is a game about survival and community.
There are many creatures, humans included, that are bigger, stronger, meaner, or more numerous than rabbits. The seasons and the elements do not care that rabbits are only little things. Rabbits cannot hope to meet these threats head on. Only through speed, wits, and keeping a cool head can rabbits bypass the dangers of the outside world.
"Ever wonder what would have happened if you were in charge of a TV show you watch?
Would those two have gotten together after all?
Would he have finally reconciled with his mother?
Would there have been fewer vampires? More wicked professors?
With Primetime Adventures, that’s all up to you!
Create a cast of characters, figure out what makes them tick, and put them in dramatic situations.
Things won’t always go the way you want. Will the characters prove their loyalty? Will they stay out of trouble? Will they remain friends? Play cards to find out what happens when things on your show get complicated"

That is a very strong point and might have swayed my decision. But I am super looking forward to happy fluffy animal story times, whenever they come about.

2017-07-16 15:21:35 +0000 UTCso the cast will be some permutation of Art, Janine, Andy, Austin and Keith? sounds like a bunch of young offenders to me! seriously, I'd love to see what any or all of you could do with a sci-fi game about friendship and shitting on authority :D Downfall is only for three players and I think Golden Sky Stories would be amazing with some of the folks that are going to be absent so I'm pushing for whichever of the others are most popular! Hoping for misspent youth though :)
