I wish I could put into words how perfect this audio is, this audio just leaves my brain scrambled every time I listen (which, I admit, is a lot). The script is impeccable, the voice acting is just insane, it's not just a deep voice, your inflection in this is world class, and the sound design was expertly done. I've always listened to your genre audios through an art-appreciation, borderline voyeuristic, perspective, but August, this audio was so inclusive and validating that I couldn't help but get immersed in the best way. This my pretty girl mantra now. 👍 Also, your voice here is magical - was all I wanted to say, then I remembered how you usually sound, and thinking about the work you put in to make this character epitomize the all brawn, no brains trope just adds to the magic. You nail the theme of each audio, and establishing M to be a himbo-goon (✌️) made F "breaking" him actually surprising, because I did not expect that eloquence and unabashed dominance from M. Multi-dimensional and nuanced characters are just a staple in your work. (Segue, I listened to your superhero frenemy audio after finishing the 2025 Spiderman series, and I am enthralled by how you've captured the emotional conflict and nuance I associated with earlier adaptations. The new series definitely underscores how despite being a superhero, Peter Parker is still a kid and very much vulnerable in the real world, but I am quite partial to the Spidermen I grew up with, and your audio just captures how bittersweet the balancing act between being a superhero and living your normal life is - because there's no winning at both. F being quick to affirm M of her feelings felt perfect because being a superhero is stressful enough. That audio was just overall emotionally cathartic, and I got to experience a fantasy I didn't even know I had - having a superhero friend.) I love the running bit about big words 😍 When M character is like “I know what exhausted means”. To later M character saying “use your big words, tell me how it feels.” It was the perfect call back, and cheeky way to connect each others’ insecurities. Sorry, now that I’ve started yapping about how great this is, I can’t stop.... 1) It continues to be so so hilarious, laugh out loud funny to me imagining her eyes fluttering rapidly as he describes being half way up the dragon’s ass and down that bastard’s throat. “God, I see what you’ve done for dragons….” Too! Relatable! 2) I just want to echo other’s thoughts on being happy about the absence of descriptions of how everyone looks. That’s obviously great for us as Listeners projecting whatever we’d like onto a blank canvas, but also, with many less thoughtful fantasy works, this set-up could have been more like “tiny pale elf mage gets broken by an enormous dark brute”. I love fantasy, but I so often have had to brace myself for racial "weirdness". But I never for a second worried about that with you. The delivery of the line "too big for you" is so clever, demonstrating the characters are different relative to each other not because of racial essentialism. He's not Big, he's too big for L (for now). Just again saying thank you for being such a thoughtful writer and that I’m grateful you continue to skillfully avoid dusty tropes because you’re doing this work with such intention and critical thought! Rachel, bards will write songs of this time and how we all lived through Genre November 2024 without getting gout. 💥 “Your characters aren’t superimposed into a genre scenario, but forged in the possibilities each world offers!” So well put!!! There are so many factors at play here, I could see the genre aspect becoming unwieldy to some, finding it difficult to balance the work of worldbuilding alongside the sex. For many different reasons, but at least two of which I think are his genuine love of genre and just being a darn good writer, you’re absolutely right: the worldbuilding and characterizations are paramount and inform the sex, not reverse engineered from a set list of positions. 💥 “F “taking it” is more about their slutty determination rather than enduring discomfort if that makes sense!” + “A bratty, smarty-pants F getting pounded into oblivion is everything, we love to see a mouthy nerd get their just desserts!!” Yes!! And this part, to me, feels like the gentle rap on the fourth wall. He knows his audience! Re the slutty determination, also SO excellent and fun and hot that her determination and enthusiasm are the things getting him worked up and tipping him over the edge into playing with her and not a sense of having power over her because he's huge! 💥 “I’m imagining it's like DT #21 and they’ll keep going for hours!” why would you say this to me?!?!?!!?! I can barely make it out alive of these 32 minutes as is! I fear for the 2nd Annual Moanys, we will need increasingly specific categories to ensure every single genre audio wins something. OKAY IM BACK More serious review: One thing about August is that the work will always be put in. It’s genuinely so cool to see all of the effort you put into your work and how much these different characters and settings are not just so well thought out, but also incredibly executed. We all have things we’re talented at, but to have that and to be intentional with it is a whole different level. From the creativity to the sound effects to the character arcs established so quickly and well done - I don’t know, I’m rambling right now, but I’m just really impressed and felt the need to try and express it. What a great end to this month! More fun review: I listened and I AM ALL ABOUT THAT BASS??? I really am so particular about voices (although I’m sure at least 99.9% of us here feel the same way lmao) BUT I will be honest, the tags? Tagging. “Brute”? Made me hesitate. I really REALLY enjoyed this. When I was a teenager one of my favourite character dynamics was big soft “brute” type characters/spunkier sort of loud witty characters that are smaller than their partners so this felt like a return to me in some ways. Love love love the tavern ambiance and the interaction at the beginning. Its such a fun scenario to listen to and picture in my head. I LOVE the characterization that speaker has where ppl superficially think hes not that intelligent because of the way he looks. This mightve not been what you were visually going for but when they were making Tangled (yes the disney animated movie) they almost went with a bigger, stronger looking character design for Flynn Rider which im SO MAD we didnt get (There are pictures of it online when you search for “tangled flynn rider concept art” iykyk!!). That was the character I was imagining for this audio and it felt really right?? Like this big soft guy whos got physical strength but also this brain and brightness about him that people overlook?? Im also still so impressed that you can just get your voice that deep and keep it so consistent. Thanks so much for your hard work!! You always do a great job with building characters and i will have fun thinking about these two and what other fun situations they would get into with their party! Makes me wanna draw lol. Truly worth the wait~~

Okay. Wow. Risky listen at 9 in the morning especially since my husband and I are hosting family for the holiday weekend but worth every second. I would listen to a whole series of this character, I'm always so entertained by the different genre personalities you create and small but detailed worlds you build around them. This voice must have been so tiring (hopefully you're able to rest your voice now as much as you need to) but it reallyyyy did it for me.
