Garage Update - Insulation, Paint, and Windows!

In the previous update post, I mentioned being on the fence about whether or not to call the garage good enough for the next video or to keep going until I was actually happy with the result.

I kept going :) What will probably amount to maybe an extra minute of runtime took weeks of work, but WOW does this make it all worth it.

Besides just feeling like a more cohesive space with 90% of the walls covered and painted, all of the added insulation has significantly helped the AC unit cool more effectively. Who'da thunk?

You might've also noticed I changed my mind about having a giant pegboard of tools on the east wall and opted instead to go with two giant windows. I literally just installed them yesterday and the added natural light has been nothing short of amazing. I'll figure out where to put a giant pegboard later...

Besides a few odds and ends (and tidying up the giant mess of stuff on the floor), I'm happy to say that all work for the next video is done! I've been hanging out in the garage writing the script and it's been so nice. Shouldn't be too long before I get to editing and the video out ❀️

Proud of you. Good call on the windows. Don’t spray foam the roof! lol practically irreversible and hideous. Matt Risinger didn’t even do it on his own house in Texas.

Carlos Traveria

For this next video, it's really just clean-up. But for future videos, honestly, still so so much. I need to rebuild the gable ends of the walls, insulate them, insulate the roof, install exterior lighting, siding/trim, build a storage loft inside, level and seal/paint the floor, and probably a bunch of other little things I can't think of right now πŸ˜…

Nice! Looks like a new garage. 😏

Joey Bergeron

Awesome. It looks awesome. Any thought to maybe epoxying the floors?

Papa Bogey

I love those small windows also

Domenick Provenzano

Ceiling fan would probably be nice

Brian Rak

Woah!! I hope the video about this latest update is coming soon. Looks awesome

Bart Labeda

So how much actual work is left on the garage? I know there's probably a few weeks worth of work to be done with editing everything at the least but that's just the video work not the actual garage work lol

Jeremie

You should insulate the garage doors. Made a huge difference for my garage with mini split in Texas heat.

Austin Castello

It looks so much better, for general use and filming purposes. I totally agree with others who said it first, you will appreciate the space so much more later for the work now!

Clement Smith

Oh, it's gorgeous!

Great Joe

Looking GOOD!

Bill Carlson

Looks great!

Peter Pociask

I’m on board with epoxying the floor. Did mine a couple years ago and it makes a huge difference.

Steve Cook

Epoxy coat the floor while the space is empty... You'll be happy you did!!!

Kevin

Looks great. Are we getting a video of this? I love watching renovation content

dennis quiad

Its really coming along!

Jesse Watford

You’re doing the right thing - get all this done now, otherwise stuff will just get in the way later (literally and figuratively!) πŸ™‚πŸ‘ A decent workspace will make your life (and mood) so much better.

David Carson

Plants are oddly rare and really aesthetically appealing in a garage/workshop setting. Thanks for the update!

Corey Pietrzak

I’ll bet a dollar that some kind of floor refinishing is next!

Thaddeus G Moore

Looks great! As someone who has used a bunch of different peg board systems, I can confidently say the best one is drawers.

Collin Cunningham

Just a thought, epoxy for the floor? 🧐

Josh and Justina

Yay

Denis Caterenciuc

Lookin good!
