First (Real) Drive for the 280Z!

Just wanted to share this milestone with you all!

The last "checkpoint" I'm trying to hit for the upcoming 280Z video is to get the car to pass inspection and then register it, then it's video making time!

This whole process took much, much longer than I anticipated. I have over 23 hours of footage! Finding a way to condense all of that down to 20-30 minutes and still be a cohesive, captivating story is going to be fun, but will absolutely take some time. However I am still shooting on getting it out before this month ends, so it shouldn't be too long :)

Loved Elyse's reaction when you did the burnout HahahaVery excited to see the new video when it comes out!

I'm not in the community, but I'm guessing you're gonna get some flak for not immediately replacing the plugs around the time you replaced the battery. But then, the plugs you got would've had to weather that terrible winter, so...

Great Joe

Im curious to see what you are gonna do about the frame

The best part of the video is your wife's reaction to the surprise driveway burnout! Great to see the Z on the road!

You could add power steering with electric pumps. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TpZkHs4Y5Ko

Nice burn out, looking forward to this project... Good Luck Ron!!!

It probably wouldn’t hurt for me to check my grounds either! Something I probably should’ve already done 😅

I’ve owned 3 red cars and 3 red motorcycles, so I’m thinking I should probably branch out haha. I really love these in white, but the “wine red” that I have looks sooo good when it’s actually not faded all to hell

haha that comment made more sense after seeing the video :)

it's amazing what a properly working electrical system will do for performance. Chewed spark plug wires would definitely impact that! I have an '86 Fiero SE, and the negative battery cable was...old. Just...gross. Was browsing clearance parts on Amazon and found a cable for a GMC truck that was twice as thick and zero corrosion. After promptly breaking the bolt to which it attaches on the engine block, I replaced the existing cable with one with a good, clean connection. Ran great after that. It was running "okay" before, but I'm not sure how. When I was feeling on the front of the engine (can't see it because it's by the firewall), the terminal was moving around in my fingers around 1/4 an inch, and the bolt was completely rusted. I have NO idea how any current was passing through.

Awesome...more pep than the Fiero. Now there's a metric to build on. I know how much you love painting cars, but I'm curious if you will try to keep what looks like maroon? Or do another color.

he worked /really/ hard on this car, calling it trash isn't very nice! *ducks*
