Baby's First VFX - GPZ Update
Added 2021-07-16 15:35:17 +0000 UTCHello! If you've seen on Instagram, I've announced that the first episode of the GPZ series is going to come out on the 23rd, 1 week from now. I should be doing things like actual editing, but instead I've spent a full work day on a 15 second long scene that makes things only slightly cooler haha.
There's some footage from the 80s that'll be shown in the episode, and I thought it would be fun to have it displayed on an old CRT TV! I haven't owned one of these in years so the easiest thing for me to do was create everything in CGI. Obviously...
I've actually done lots of product renders and animations when I was in design school, but those have always been presented as "renders". This is the first thing I've put in a body of work that's supposed to be presented as "real". I'm not sure it's quite hitting that photo-realness, but I think it's pretty dang good! There's TV flickering that illuminates the room, camera movement, and sound effects that breath so much life into the actual scene, so don't judge just on this still frame! I think I might add some lens distortion just to be the little cherry on top, but overall, I couldn't be happier with how this turned out.
I'm going to make a video breaking down everything in the scene because I'm just so excited about it, but that'll have to wait until after I finish editing the episode! I don't have anymore time to waste haha.
