Heyo! Not only have I already started the next project, but I've also filmed the entirety of the first episode!
If you've been here for a while (hello newcomers!), then you've seen this bike before in some update videos. But if you haven't: this is my 1986 Kawasaki GPZ1000RX. Much like the Fiero, it's another red oddball from the 80s that I think is worth sharing with the world.
But unlike the Fiero, it wasn't loved by a family for years only to become an OEM time capsule in the woods. No, no. This seems to have been hated and hacked all it's life. It's got some sketchy things done to it, many missing components, and it seems to have never had any proper maintenance done to it. It's in ROUGH shape to say the least. I'm gonna do my best to get this thing back on the road safely and reliably, but without doing anywhere near the work of a full restoration.
The idea with the Fiero was to see if someone that had only been lightly tinkering with cars could actually do a full restoration, and to show the world that they could do it too. The idea for this one is to be a little more introductory to the world of wrenching, to show someone that has never tinkered at all that they shouldn't be afraid to even start. The plan is to go into a decent amount of detail for even the most basic tasks necessary to bring something back to life.
It's basically going to be a "will-it-run-and-drive" style revival without cutting any corners, or glossing over any information. I'm excited! The plan is to film the entire series (5 episodes) before I start releasing any videos. That way, they'll be released week after week instead of 1 a month or so like I've been doing :)
I'll keep you guys updated on how things go!
