Today, dear journal, I happened upon an item of most exquisite design and ancient power. As I journeyed through the Enchanted Glades, I stumbled upon a broom – but not just any broom. This was the fabled Eldertree Sweepstaff. Tales whispered of its existence, but I had always dismissed such tales as mere bedtime stories for young mages.

Crafted from the oldest Eldertrees, its wooden length shimmered with colors of deep red transitioning to a radiant gold. But what truly caught my eye were the vibrant vines wrapped around it, with leaves that seemed to breathe life.

Eagerly, I spoke the command word (discovered after a brief, rather embarrassing series of mishaps involving impromptu rhymes and a startled squirrel). Immediately, the broom responded, hovering gently beneath me. Climbing aboard, I was whisked into the sky, the wind rushing past me, as I soared above the Glades with a speed I'd never experienced.

Feeling a rush of boldness, I directed the Sweepstaff to a familiar grove, speaking the place's name and watching as the broom sped off on its own. A delightful trick!

Remembering the tales, I focused my intent and felt the broom's energies surge. With a flourish, I summoned gusts of wind, sending leaves spiraling in playful dances. But the real marvel was the Autumn's Wrath. With a more forceful command, a tornado of swirling leaves emerged, their edges sharp as daggers, slashing at an old training dummy I'd set up. The sight was both magnificent and terrifying.

As night falls and I prepare to rest, I realize the immense potential this item holds.

I must study it further, for there's much to learn, and many skies to explore.

Eldertree Sweepstaff

Wondrous item, very rare

Fashioned from the wood of the ancient Eldertrees, the Sweepstaff showcases a gradient hue transitioning from a deep, blood-red at the grip to a golden yellow at its base. Intertwined with this wooden length is a cascade of robust vines, each adorned with verdant leaves.

The enchanted broom, weighing 3 pounds, appears mundane until a creature stands upon it and speaks its command word. Once activated, it begins to hover, ready to be ridden through the air. It has a flying speed of 60 feet and can carry up to 400 pounds. However, its flying speed reduces to 30 feet if it carries more than 200 pounds.

Additionally, by speaking the broom's command word and naming a familiar location within 5 miles, the broom can be sent to that location autonomously. Speaking the command word again recalls the broom to the user, provided it is within the 5-mile range. 

The Eldertree Sweepstaff has 3 charges, which are used for the following properties, and regains expended charges daily at dawn.

Spells. While holding the Sweepstaff, you can use an action to expend some of its charges to cast one of the following spells: Gust of Wind (1 charge) or unleash Autumn's Wrath (3 charges), a swirling vortex of leaves that deals slashing damage, functioning similarly to the Whirlwind spell but with altered damage type.
