Chaos Coin Survey Monkey Q&A
Added 2018-09-18 03:56:01 +0000 UTCHi Everyone
Martin here with a little FAQ about the Coin survey we sent out yesterday.
Just a couple of questions and clarifications.
1) Where's my Survey?
Well, have you checked your inbox? Also try having a look in your spam folder before messaging us. Also make sure you're actually in the Chaos Coin gang before asking us where your survey is.
2) Can I use Latin for the message?
Actually we did get this question a couple of times. And now we had a chat about it here, the answer is no. Sorry. Please keep all messages in English and use English characters when writing your name too.
3) Can I use a quote from (insert celebrity/book/movie/poem/song here)?
I wish we could have clarified this much earlier.
Please use an original message of your own creation or only use quotes from stuff that's in the public domain. (FYI, Alice IS in the public domain)
We'd really like to avoid potential suing and litigation :(
By the way, if there is a legal superman in our Patron list who knows all about the fair use and/or not of quotes and such, please PM us :)
4) Can I edit my pledge now I've completed the survey?
Yes, go ahead. But please be aware that 3x$35 gets you an art print of your choosing :)
(Also you cannot mix and match tiers, e.g.. 2x$35 + 1x$75)
5) How can I edit my survey after I already filled it in?
Just use the link you already have. You can edit for years with that same link.
- Cheers

I as well have yet to receive a survey. It's not in my inbox or spam perhaps there's something I missed? Thanks! ;)
2018-09-22 02:23:52 +0000 UTCIs it a consecutive 3 months for the art print, or could I bring down my pledge for now and bring it back up to 35 later, and only have two months @ 35 left?

2018-09-21 17:33:30 +0000 UTCSadly have not received my survey for the chaos coin....I have been pledging 35$ for over 2 months now.

2018-09-21 14:40:01 +0000 UTCThe message will be connected to the virtual coin, not the physical one :D Thus, the coins can be sent out now (as they do not contain your quote), and you have till the game is made to choose your message for the virtual coin! ☆
2018-09-20 21:45:35 +0000 UTCI have not recieved a survey either. Hope we can get some clarification on this.

2018-09-20 19:50:15 +0000 UTCHey, I haven't recieved my survey for the chaos coin yet and I pledged in time for it and all of my details are up to date and I've checked my spam folders and I haven't seen anything 😞
2018-09-20 02:03:57 +0000 UTCHello! I am sorry if this has been answered, but I am a little confused about the chaos coin - I saw in another post that physical coins will be shipping fairly soon, but I don't need to add my message to the survey for that, do I? Since I'm seeing we have a couple years, I just want to make sure I'm not missing out on something with the physical coin. Thanks!

2018-09-19 18:15:39 +0000 UTCI as well have not gotten the survey and have had 3x$35 payments go through and was active during the rise to 2000 patreons for said coin.
2018-09-19 17:54:18 +0000 UTCI also haven’t gotten a survey or anything. I’m pretty sure I’m part of the chaos coin gang cuz it says my pledge went through? I’m a little anxious abt it now tbh
2018-09-19 15:22:24 +0000 UTCQuotes are considered intellectual property, which is protected under the law. This means that if you're not a quote's original author and you want to sell something with the quote on it, one of two things must be true: 1. You have permission by the copyright owner. 2. The quote has passed into public domain. I used <a href="https://www.brainyquote.com/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.brainyquote.com/</a>to search my quote, it tells me who its by etc. I then google searched the persons name with the words 'Public Domain' next to them and I tend to get results very fast. My first quote was by Nikos Kazantzakis but his writing wont go into public domain until 2027. Many writers have their own websites with a copyright page that states as much :) Also, if you search the name on <a href="https://en.wikisource.org" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://en.wikisource.org</a> , it should tell you at the bottom of the page if the works are in pubic domain. Anyone who was born/died in the 1800s will almost always be in public domain.
2018-09-19 11:44:07 +0000 UTCAnything written before 1923 is now in the public domain and can be used for a multitude of purposes, including reproducing, performing, and so on. So there shouldn't be a problem if some wants to quote from a book written before that year.
2018-09-19 01:42:06 +0000 UTCAre we allowed to use quotes from your Alice series?

2018-09-19 00:11:47 +0000 UTCDo we have to write something now as a placeholder (for when we think of something or want to change it in the future) or can we leave it blank until we think of something? I know we have years until the final game but I was just wondering if there was a cut off point to have a least something submitted to show our interest or not.
2018-09-18 18:08:35 +0000 UTCIf anyone is using gmail and cannot find their survey, check the promotions tab. That is where I found mine
Saiou
2018-09-18 18:02:40 +0000 UTCYou can check that on patreon under "your pledges". Then there should be a tab that says past pledges, or somethign similar

2018-09-18 18:01:56 +0000 UTCI started with you guys just last month but it did bill through. Am I eligible or no?

Make Nine Inch Nails great again
2018-09-18 14:22:29 +0000 UTCWhen I first got Madness Returns my brother and i were hanging out in his room (the only ethernet cable was in there). I was trying to figure out my Xbox Gamer Tag and he handed me a barrel of Utz Cheese Balls and asked "salty cheese balls?" Boom gamer tag! My name is Saltycheezebalz and my quote is "Salty cheese balls?"
2018-09-18 13:26:24 +0000 UTCi have already done the Survey and used a latin message, how can i change it?
2018-09-18 12:17:10 +0000 UTCMy message is my own translation of the translation of a traditional narrative that may or may not be real. But I'm pretty sure it's real and have three years to find out.
Make Nine Inch Nails great again
2018-09-18 10:40:49 +0000 UTCGood that you mention that about quotes. I already put in a quote, from my favorite book, but I'll see if I can't think up some really clever myself ;)
2018-09-18 09:02:35 +0000 UTCHmm.. I have gotten the Chaos Necklace survey, but not the Coin one I think. Also isn't a 75$ pledge by itself eligible for an art print?

2018-09-18 08:47:58 +0000 UTCNice !! :)

2018-09-18 08:07:40 +0000 UTCNow that I have completed it does it just have to wait or do something else?
2018-09-18 08:07:29 +0000 UTCAs far as I know just the Game
2018-09-18 07:25:07 +0000 UTCAre we allowed to include names of our family members as in a dedication or is the message section strictly directed only to Alice related universe ? Would be great if you could clarify this.
2018-09-18 07:09:34 +0000 UTCWhere does the message go on the coin? On the back of the coin? On the collectors card? Or just in the game?
Marek Haring
2018-09-18 07:07:27 +0000 UTCI have not received a survey but my status says complete
2018-09-18 07:07:08 +0000 UTCThanks for the answers. I just filled mine with some quotes from the games cause I have YEARS to modify it. (Am I right?)

2018-09-18 06:27:17 +0000 UTCI've used a short fragment from a poem I've written that is also public (I don't intend to sue you :D) that I think suits amazingly well within the world of Alice Asylum! The only thing I didn't see mentioned in the post would be the names. In my case using a brand name - is it allowed, or should I use my real name.?
2018-09-18 06:26:16 +0000 UTCHow do I check if imy in the Chaos Coin Gang? Because I made my pledge before your 3h left warning.
2018-09-18 06:09:12 +0000 UTCJust filled out my survey :) can't wait to get my coin!

2018-09-18 05:45:49 +0000 UTCi found mine by searching my email specifically for "chaos coin" rather than patreon, in case that helps anyone.

2018-09-18 05:43:45 +0000 UTCI haven't received any survey either.
2018-09-18 05:26:38 +0000 UTCI have not received any survey.
2018-09-18 04:59:15 +0000 UTCWhy no Latin? That's a pity.
2018-09-18 04:45:16 +0000 UTCCan i air quote my one phrase to make it look cool? Lol
2018-09-18 04:27:47 +0000 UTCOmg. I found it! Thank you so much! xD

2018-09-18 04:27:39 +0000 UTCIf you guys didnt see the email and have a mess of an inbox like I do make sure you look up "mysterious.emailbox@gmail.com" it should pop up if its there

2018-09-18 04:26:42 +0000 UTCSo I looked in my inbox and my spam and I didn’t receive a survey and I paid the $35 this month, so I don’t know what happened
2018-09-18 04:15:56 +0000 UTCSoo hyped right now! Filled mine out :)
2018-09-18 04:13:29 +0000 UTCDarn it, I had a feeling the lyrics I used might not be okay but since I didn't see anything in the rules about it I put them in. Now I have to be creative and write my own quote.. lol.

2018-09-18 04:08:10 +0000 UTCIs it possible to change the quote made on a Chaos Coin after you put in your survey? Or is it too late now?
2018-09-18 04:07:53 +0000 UTCJust so people know, any writen work published before 1923 in the United States are now considered public domain and can be usedn This includes works like Alice. A good website to find a list of public domain books and literacy pieces is Goodreads.com under their public domain list. Or you can use this link <a href="https://www.goodreads.com/shelf/show/public-domain" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.goodreads.com/shelf/show/public-domain</a>Another good website for finding public domain books can be found using this link <a href="http://m.feedbooks.com/books" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">http://m.feedbooks.com/books</a> Standford University also does a good job of explaining the rules for public domain. You can find it using this link <a href="https://fairuse.stanford.edu/overview/public-domain/welcome/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://fairuse.stanford.edu/overview/public-domain/welcome/</a> Hope this can help some of you.
2018-09-18 04:06:26 +0000 UTCWhat’s the plan when you guys get the inevitable duplicates of every Alice in Wonderland quote? First come first serve?
