Death, Taxes, and Moving

Gregory, you're on Patreon... a platform where creators and fans form a community to bring creative things to life. I *want* our Patrons to help with community - to "get involved" so to speak - especially when I am busy with packing, moving, unpacking my entire home / life / studio. I think we're all a bit confused as to why you - and seemingly only you - are so upset over the situation with the patches. We want to help you - and I'd like to resolve this so that everyone is happy. Here's the deal... I don't know how we could have communicated about the patches more clearly. They've been mentioned, along with clear timelines, in multiple previous posts here on Patreon. On May 29th I said, "For the Embroidered Patches - the factory says they will be finished with manufacturing on June 1st at the latest. Everything will then be sent to our warehouse in Shenzhen. From there it's 20~30 days for delivery around the world. So... fingers crossed, you should have these in your anxious little hands by end of June." It is now the end of June and people are receiving patches as promised. And the patches (and timeline) were mentioned multiple times during recent live streams, Instagram updates, etc. How else would like to receive notification? Let me know how we can improve this for you and others in the future. "considering the patches were available for purchase for less....could've just told us from the beginning you were going to do that" As for this... I really have no idea what you're seeing differently. The patches on Mysterious are $24.99 + $5 shipping = $30USD. You only had to pledge $5 in order to get the patches. And to date (prior to when you canceled your pledge) you'd put in $15 here on Patreon. Our shipping costs $5 and the patch sets are around $5 to manufacture, plus there are costs related to initial design, handling, and b2b shipping. When we put this promotion together we did so with the assumption that we'd LOSE MONEY on all the people who pledged the minimum (or even two months of the minimum 5+5)... and that we'd make up the loss on those who stuck around to support us and/or on the sales at Mysterious. Again, I am at a loss here... if you can help me understand how you arrived at this misunderstanding about costs, etc... and let us know how we can improve the situation in the future, that would be great. Appreciate the reply, but it's a bit late for all that, nor do I feel like dealing with a bunch of jerks who have nothing better to do than get involved in other folks' business. I'm not mad about it (well, my partner is a bit peeved) so, it really doesn't matter. I'll buy the game regardless. I'll buy the toys regardless...still have all of them from way back when. Just don't have the money for all this anymore and I feel we've waited long enough, considering the patches were available for purchase for less....could've just told us from the beginning you were going to do that......anyhoo. I'm out. Hope the game turns out well....please make a version that includes the coin, 'cuz it's very pretty. Thanks and good luck!

G, The patches just shipped last week. I had hoped to do an update on the topic but have been insanely busy with moving house (the topic of the post you're commenting on). We're in the new house, sitting among a bunch of unpacked boxes, and trying to get everything up and running as quickly as possible. As for "no communication" ... I am at a bit of a loss. Aside from the weeks where I'm traveling, we've managed a live stream per week plus all the updates we do here on Patreon. Plus the stuff on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and via the mailing list. Are you not seeing any of the updates in which the links to these things are shared? What of the post you're commenting on right now?

YAH. 4 months of support IN NO WAY implies "instant gratification", when we could've just bought them from the site. No emails stating any of this. No communication other than a bill every month. We get it. It's the era of involving yourselves in complete strangers' business. Mind YOUR OWN business. Stay out of ours.

I don't think it's sitting it's head is just big. Zooming in you can see the line of its tummy which indicates laying down. :3

You got your patches? I thought I read a reply to a comment on another post that there would be notification that they had shipped and I have never received that or seen a new post about them having been shipped.

As a piece of art, I love the red/black image at the top of this post. I especially love the negative space alice, the chaos symbol, and the simple color scheme. The only thing that turns me off of it is that it seems to vilify Cheshire cat. Is that intentional? Regarding the head figurine. I'm not a fan of this type of collectible. A full body small scale figurine (that could stand on it's own or have a stand) would be attractive. Even though I don't care for these types of items, and Alice looks too old (smoky eye?), it appears to be nicely detailed and of high quality. Speaking of high quality, I got my patches today and they look great!

The Pig Baby idea is extremely different from tasks seen in the previous two games (like collecting the slide puzzle blocks in AMR), and I love it! I would love to play it in the game!! The Alice head looks fantastic, too!! Good luck on the move!

I would like to see a version (image) of this with a bust. Would probably look better, but I can't tell without seeing it. And the box featuring the padded cell is half the reason I'd want to buy this, haha!

I have two Alice Asylum suggestions I’ve been thinking about: 1st, what if Alice begins AND ends the story arc at the Chaos Core? Stage 1 includes the shock of the memory of her burning family. As the environment crumbles around her (creating the chaos core), she flees this, entering her stage of denial. Later, as her hero’s arc comes to a close, Alice must return to the Chaos Core, where the Jabberwocky waits. Returning to face her nightmare, she fights the dragon within sight of her burning house. 2nd, The most enticing hope for me concerning Alice Asylum is that we would spend a lot of time in the ASYLUM! Multiple games can have Wonderland surrealism, but only this game has the excuse to spend lots of time exploring the mad house. I wonder if each planet/island/stage could have its Wonderland bit and then a Rutledge mirror. Wonderland Alice can have superhuman powers, while Rutledge Alice has to resort mostly to sneaking. Please oh please, have more Asylum in it than Madness Returns. -I love the developments so far. Each Patreon post has great art. Much Love you guys!

Unfortunately ill be missing this weeks stream! ill be baking an movie marathoning the first 4 before jurassic world tomorrow but ill catch up later. The box art is really groovy an so is the art work! Yes Martin you should move! it may be stressful an cause anxiety before hand but once you get moved you will be okay. plus it will make working with American lots easier cause you will only have to deal with the anxiety of moving instead of multiple times throughout time.

I do have one question though, why would you need the dutchess to come looking for the baby after you hid it? Anyway it looks like an interesting concept. Not that excited about the heads, personal I think they would work better as a bust rather than just the head. But that's just personal opinion. Martian if you don't move who will Lulu have to bite? I love the art work, making it a card with the Chaos Coin is a very awesome idea! That image is definitely a favorite. I love the Pig baby images and idea. It looks fun and potentially frustrating and fits in well with the stealthy approach. The box design is cool, the head is good. And for Martin.. New and foreign places become increasingly less new and foreign the more time you spent in them. Maybe it helps to know, that the feelings of anxiety those things provoke ease over time, if you stick to it (it might not get perfect, but manageable - speaking from experience). "The only way out is through". If you do find a cure for anxiety along the way, be all means let me in on it, please and thank you.

Yelling doesn't help, poor Martin but he will travel anyways XD. I'm not the biggest fan of just big heads without a body but ok(just my preference). I love the artwork but the piece where Alice is driving the baby pig around in a stroller is kinda weird(just because the baby pig is sitting XD very unusual for an baby to do so...would be cooler if you just see the snout but ok get the idea.) Sounds like an upgrade in most aspects so I'm sure it will be a good thing. The art work looks beautiful as usual and love the new little story board artwork with the piglet. The head is gorgeous as is the box, can't wait for the stream :). Hope Martin gets that courage to travel!

I like the idea of Alice being chased by Duchees, but Pig Baby is a no go to me. Personally, I would like to see more scenes/mini-games where Alice is chased by the visions of her dead family similar to what Isaac Clarke experienced during the events of Dead Space 2. I want "Asylum" to be more dark than other Alice games, because it is the beginning of the nightmare Alice got into.

I absolutely love the idea of a certificate of sorts! That would completely be a cheap yet 100% effective way to link your real coin to the one in game! I love it! Great idea! I'm sorry to hear about the stress and moving. I do hope it works out in your favor. Love the partly monochrome style. I was wondering since (I'm assuming) Alice: Asylum will be rated M, so you plan on making darker and more surreal (AKA scarier/makes you uneasy) than Alice: Madness Returns? Torat cards?! Thats awsome! I would get those!!!

Those ideas look great. The art is spot on. Definitely fits in with the Madness Returns art style. The head looks great too. Nice twisted idea for it to be in a asylum padded room. I really like it, but sometimes seems to be missing or off. Maybe it's just me. What if you gave her a neck with the chaos pendant around it instead of at the base? Like turn that short bit between the head and the first bevel into the neck? Don't hate me internets!!!

I’m so excited to see what this game is going to unveil for the next chapter in Alice’s story! I remember when I was like 4 or 5 and I would drag a chair to my dad’s computer to watch him play the first one and that’s how we bonded as father and daughter at that age, and for my 15th birthday my dad got me Alice: Madness Returns for the P.C. Now I’m 20 and I’m more than happy to help you achieve your goal of releasing the third, and hopefully not the final game!
