Yo

Yes, I like Halloween too sometimes. What horror films are you watching this October?

I saw Bill's most recent one. He seemed so jaded and middle aged haha.

I'm about to see Terrifier 3. Looking forward to Smile 2. Also planning to rewatch Oddity, an Irish horror that started streaming on Shudder towards the end of September. Really enjoyed that movie and recommend it! Also, for the first time in like a decade I actually have a Halloween costume. Bill Hader in the Criterion Closet (a.k.a. a maroon hoodie, a House t-shirt, and possibly a criterion copy of Salò; not sure if I'm THAT committed to the bit yet).

Edward Looney

I don’t have a set list but I did rewatch Griffith’s The Avenging Conscience last night and will probably watch Mad Monster Party for the first time tonight!

Dan

Dracula: Pages from a Virgin's Diary, directed by the awesome Guy Maddin

Daniel

lol...I was never gonna reveal my plans.

We’re on to you, Maggie.

Yep she hands over the pizza and pulls out her Psycho knife and that’s when the fun begins! She’s known as “The Pizza Delivery Killer”

Stephen

I’d say she uses the pizza delivery to gain access to the house. Then the carnage begins.

Bennett Oliver

More like she delivers pizza with that mask on.

Stephen

So are you getting ready to invade a home and murder a family in this photo or what?

Bennett Oliver

Like always I plan on finding horror films I haven’t seen yet. Earlier this year I went through some of Tobe Hooper’s work outside of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre with: * The Funhouse (1981) - think Texas Chainsaw Massacre but at a carnival. A perfect movie to watch on Halloween night. * Lifeforce (1985) - Alien meets Invasion of the Body Snatchers. Also quite simply one of the horniest movies I’ve ever seen. Its great! * The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 (1986) - I’m very mixed on it but it has it’s moments. Kind of falls in the tradition of Gremlins 2 and 22 Jump Street where the sequel is all about making fun of the original. Tonally a mess but contains some of the originals dark sense of humor and Dennis Hopper going wild. I plan to continue on with Salem’s Lot (1979), Poltergeist (1982) and Spontaneous Combustion (1989). Also, I’ve been meaning to check out more of Mario Bava’s work especially after seeing Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice (2024) where they reference him numerous times. Some of his films I haven’t seen and plan to check out are: Lisa and the Devil (1973) Planet of the Vampires (1965) and Rabid Dogs (1974). Saw “The Whip and the Body (1963)” for the first time earlier this year and can say its pretty underrated.

Stephen

I’ve been starting to watch all the giallos on Criterion. I started with The Evil Eye (1963), which was considered the first giallo ever made, and I’m continuing with Blood and Black Lace (1964). So I’ve got a lot of Mario Bava and Dario Argentinian in my future.

Mostly just editing my own. My theater’s showing night of the living dead, TCM (again) and don’t look now. Def plan on catching those.

Scott

Based on a Bram Stoker novel. Young Hugh Grant. A wonderful mix of charm and weird.

raskolnikov

Hm I dont know that one. I will look it up.

NOT THE BEES

Deepfocuslens

The Lair of the White Worm was fantastic

raskolnikov

I loved it. It seems innocent but still very creepy. I’ll probably watch it every October/November.

Shane Palamara

I just finished a rewatch too! Starting to become a tradition every other autumn

Drew Perkins

Plan to catch up on some Japanese horror: Onibaba, Tetsuo the Iron Man, Dark Water, Kwaidan. Also, The Wicker Man (1973) is long overdue. My dad is a huge fan, and I remember his dismay at renting us the Nic Cage remake when that was new 🤣

Drew Perkins

I’ve been binge watching a lot of Wes Craven, I was pleasantly surprised by Serpent and the Rainbow and The People Under the Stairs. Next up is Peter Jackson’s early horror films. Also, I just watched Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 and it was absolutely hilarious

Henri J. Mertens

I had only seen 2 episodes a few years ago but I decided to randomly watch it all today haha. I’m almost finished and it feels like a ‘40s Disney movie on shrooms.

Shane Palamara

ohhh that's a great show. Good choice.

Deepfocuslens

I’m watching Over the Garden Wall right now

Shane Palamara

I just rewatched Roger Corman's Pit and the Pendulum for the first time since high school and it was fun with Vincent Price being enjoyably over the top. I'm also planning to rewatch Poltergeist (1982) and probably a couple 1930s Universal monster classics like Bride of Frankenstein which is one of my favorite films of all time.

Wolfman Brandon

In theaters? I was able to watch the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre a few weeks ago for the first time in a theater. I'll probably watch Terrifier 3 & Smile 2. At home though I'm most likely just going to rewatch John Carpenter's The Thing, Brian DePalma's "Carrie" that I admittedly haven't watched in ages & either Re-Animator or Jennifer's Body's theatrical cut as I've only ever seen the unrated cut.
