October Films
Added 2023-09-04 18:18:47 +0000 UTCI know I'm early on this one, but because so many of the movie scheduled releases are shifting around, trying to figure out what things everyone wants to see in October. Obviously I'm interested in Scorsese's new film probably the most. Also think Dumb Money looks fun. What do you guys think?

Not a movie, but Mike Flanagan’s mini series adaptation of The Fall of the House of Usher is my most anticipated. Flanagan’s kind of on fire for me, as far as big horror directors go (at least the projects he’s been fully hands on with). I mean, the guy pulled off directing a sequel to a Kubrick movie for god’s sake 😅 and Doctor Sleep really holds up well I think. Just looked it up and David Fincher’s new movie is also releasing on Netflix in October. Dammit everytime I think I’m out, Netflix pulls me back in…

2023-09-09 10:32:01 +0000 UTCOfc I’ll be first in line for Killers. I’ll also be watching Five Nights at Freddy’s - I never played the game, but I really miss seeing Josh Hutcherson on the big screen so yeah

2023-09-05 02:37:23 +0000 UTCIt reminds me of a film that came out a decade or so ago called Rubber, which is about a tire named Robert who gains psychokinetic powers and goes on a killing spree in a small desert town. I’ve never actually seen it, just the trailer. But it seems like a parody/deconstruction of the slasher film, just like Slotherhouse does. Believe it or not, but Rubber premiered at Cannes and got good reviews. And the Guardian, of all publications, called Slotherhouse a masterpiece. It’s hard to wrap my head around, but two movies about a killer tire and a killer sloth might actually be good. Go figure.

2023-09-04 22:04:24 +0000 UTCNot interested in the Exorcist remake for the same exact reasons along with the fact I don’t care for the original. Unfortunately it’s only real horror movie coming out this October. Also you mentioning Slotherhouse reminds me that there was a Winnie the Pooh slasher that came out earlier this year. 😆

2023-09-04 21:41:02 +0000 UTCObviously Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon is the big event of the month, but I’m also interested in seeing Priscilla and Alexander Payne’s new movie The Holdovers, which reunites him with Paul Giamatti. As for the horror films, I’ll wait until I hear what the reviews say about them, but I’m not holding my breath for the new Exorcist. David Gordon Green is a fine director, but I didn’t really care for his take on Halloween, enough so that I didn’t bother to see the two sequels. It says a lot that I preferred Halloween: H20 as a better, more honest depiction of how Jamie Lee Curtis’s Laurie Strode would wind up after surviving the events of the first Halloween. So I’m not all that excited about what he’s got planned for the new Exorcist, even with the return of Ellen Burstyn’s character (what is she going to do anyways? She had nothing to do with the first exorcism). For a few good laughs, why not go see the horror movie Slotherhouse, about a killer sloth who attacks a sorority house? It’s actually supposed to be better than you would think.

2023-09-04 20:13:38 +0000 UTCI think the fact it's by a more established director and not some random guy like with that one David Bowie movie makes it less of an issue for me.

2023-09-04 19:31:56 +0000 UTCI think Priscilla could be interesting. They can’t use any of Elvis Presley’s music though. But I’m always fascinated when this happens, mainly to see if they actually do anything unique or original with the film.

2023-09-04 18:25:53 +0000 UTCGonna watch the new Exocist movie cause I'm a masochist and enjoy a good hate watch now and then. Foe looks like an interesting almost Black Mirror sort of movie with two great leads and based on a book by Iain Reid who did I'm Thinking of Ending Things. Fair Play which is gonna be hitting Netflix is suppose to be a good watch so likely check that out. Doubt it will get a wide enough release for me to see it in October but Anatomy of a Fall is an early awards hopeful do keeping my eye on that.
