I've only seen - Dead Man, Ghost Dog & The Dead Don't Die. Dead Man is excellent, Ghost Dog is good and The Dead Don't Die is dull.

2022-07-25 21:19:11 +0000 UTCOf what I’ve seen, Dead Man and Ghost Dog are my favorites. Before that, he had done things like Mystery Train and Night on Earth, which were these offbeat, deadpan comedies of cross-cultural disconnection. I found them amusing, but never considered them as movies I liked. With Dead Man, though he hasn’t fully abandoned the strange deadpan humor, he’s going for something different: a savage, gritty, surreal, almost hallucinatory Western, a film that at times feels like something out of a Cormac McCarthy novel. I love the gorgeous black-and-white cinematography, and the electric guitar soundtrack by Neil Young is awesome (I still have the soundtrack CD hidden in some closet somewhere). As for Ghost Dog, it’s been years since I’ve seen it, but I still remember the quiet melancholy that pervades the film, in no small part due to Forest Whittaker’s soulful performance and RZA’s music. With those two films, Jarmusch really went for elements that I found to be far more interesting than his comedies. I stopped paying attention to him after Broken Flowers, but I’ve been meaning to see his vampire film Only Lovers Left Alive.

2022-07-25 18:54:48 +0000 UTCI've only seen Stranger Than Paradise and Down by Law and I haven't seen them since college several years ago. All I remember is the funny Italian guy in the latter because the whole film class kept laughing at him. I'll have to see them again to reevaluate them since I don't remember them very well.

2022-07-25 18:06:02 +0000 UTCHe's awesome. I've seen most of his movies. Definitely a fan of his style and the tone he creates. Ghost Dog and Coffee and Cigarettes are my current favorites.

2022-07-25 17:32:32 +0000 UTCMystery Train is my favorite from him, but Down By Law is a close second. He always writes great, memorable characters, which is a good thing because the plot never seems to be that important to him. I remember Dead Don't Die getting a pretty large theatrical release (for Jim), something like 650 screens. For comparison, I think Paterson had less than 80. But Dead Don't Die has to be the most walked-out of movie I've ever seen. People had to have gone based on zombies and a pretty good cast and knew nothing of Jarmusch's style. I always recommend Ghost Dog to people, because that feels like his most accessible movie to a general audience.

2022-07-25 16:51:13 +0000 UTCI’ve only seen a couple of his films. Dead Man, which I absolutely love, and The Dead Don’t Die…but let’s not talk about that one. I love how Dead Man is this really hazy peyote-induced western that’s kind of an Enter The Void journey into the afterlife, but much more subtle. It’s one of the best homages to Bergman’s work I think. Reminds me a lot of Seventh Seal in particular. Definitely need to check out Paterson, Stranger Than Paradise, and his other work

2022-07-25 16:44:01 +0000 UTCI've only seen two: Paterson and The Dead Don't Die and had polar opposite reactions. Paterson was such a beautiful, simple and touching film that I really loved. The Dead Don't Die bored me to absolute tears and was one of the least funny comedies I've seen in a bit. I want to watch more cause I assume his filmography is closer to Paterson but yeah, split reaction so far.
