Christopher Reeve on Marlon Brando

So refreshing to hear someone be respectfully honest without people going apeshit. Feels surreal in these times. :(

Christopher Reeve on Marlon Brando

It's a vibe. That compilation definitely gets funnier as it goes on, as (like most of Elliott's "characters") it was an evolving bit. It's tough to overstate just how much of an impact shit like this had on me (and people like me) when I was a kid. Make of that what you may.

Thanks for sharing. I wasn't aware of that. I'll check it out!

Related (enough): The brilliant Chris Elliott—who first became a cult icon during his stint as a Letterman writer and recurring performer—made a number of appearances on the show as Marlon Brando. More a gloriously abstract interpretation than an actual impersonation, Brando was very much on the record as not being a fan of any of it. Particularly amusing, to me then as now, was that the TV Guide listings, the commercials for the evening's show, and the opening announcements all touted, without qualification, that one of the evening's guests would be Marlon Brando. All of the appearances can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6IjL-lxDXSk

Back when people acted like real adults. He's absolutely right. Brando's one of my favorite actors but if it wasn't for his legendary talent, he'd be no better than the elitist stars today.

Honest indeed, and still classy about it. What a legend.
