LOVE DEATH + ROBOTS
Added 2022-06-05 20:04:09 +0000 UTCI don't know if any of you have seen this show or not. But my best friend has a degree in animation, and he couldn't stop talking about this. In case you don't know, it's a series of short films for netflix. Each artist is given freedom to make whatever animated short they want. There are a couple that stood out to me that I saw. The ones by Alberto Mieglo are absolutely extraordinary. His short, The Witness is a great style exercise and a masterclass in capturing human expressions and such, but his short Jibaro....is a must watch. The way human movement is captured here is next level. I have never seen animation this good in my life. It opened my eyes to what is possible.
Also....I really enjoyed Bad Travelling, which was directed by David Fincher. For me this one captured an overall quality that I enjoyed most as a cohesive work. Extraordinary look and animation, and fantastic voice work. If you guys have a chance, check these out. If you've seen other ones, let me know what your favorites are. I personally really enjoyed Night of the Mini Dead as well.

2022-06-06 19:31:42 +0000 UTCIt's a great show. Bad Travelling was truly excellent as was Night of the Mini Dead, I also liked Mason's Rats as probably the most amusing episode. I think the episode that affected me the most was the last episode of season 2 called The Drowned Giant - that is a beautifully depressing meditation on death.

2022-06-06 11:02:48 +0000 UTCBeen putting this one off for a while. Been trying to get back into watching shows recently. Binged the Apple TV show Severance recently and really really enjoyed it. Reallt solid sci-fi satire with a bit of dark humor. Reminded me a lot of Spike Jonze. Will definitely check out some of these episodes of Love Death and Robots though since I've seen nothing but high praises for them lately.
