June Movies
Added 2022-05-15 22:51:10 +0000 UTCWhat movies are ya'll looking forward to in June? For me, the only one I'm really aware of and excited for, is Crimes of The Future by Cronenberg. What am I missing?

2022-05-17 00:51:03 +0000 UTCI think we all know you just want June to be over so you can see your most anticipated film of 2022. Minions: The Rise of Gru

2022-05-16 17:58:09 +0000 UTCSame. I tend to try and avoid trailers at times, if I can for things like that.

2022-05-16 17:57:08 +0000 UTCyeah. I mean...it's Spaz Luhrman so your chances of that are quite possible.

2022-05-16 17:56:40 +0000 UTCThanks! Haha yeah I thought the same thing about Tom Hanks. Though I don't feel his hammy style of acting is entertaining. To me it's just bad.

2022-05-16 17:55:56 +0000 UTCI just watched Petite Maman last night and I really liked most of it, but I felt the ending really undercut it. Definitely worth a watch though

2022-05-16 07:04:02 +0000 UTCCrimes of the Future is definitely the biggest one for me. Other than that, maybe The Black Phone, and Cha Cha Real Smooth (Cooper Raif’s follow up to Shithouse). I’ll probably go see Elvis but it looks awful

2022-05-16 06:58:37 +0000 UTCIt looks like a potentially great month for Indie films. I've split my list into three, A = I'll watch it as soon as I can. B = I'll make a reasonable effort to watch it. C = I'll probably get to it at some point. A: Brian and Charles, Marcel the Shell With Shoes On B: Flux Gourmet, Official Competition, Crimes of the Future, Jurassic World Dominion, I'm Charlie Walker, After Blue (Dirty Paradise), Eiffel C: Poser, Watcher, Lost Illusions, Good Luck to You Leo Grande, The Black Phone, Apples

2022-05-16 06:19:28 +0000 UTCThe Black Phone looks cool. It’d certainly be interesting to watch Ethan Hawke play a psycho villain. I’m holding off on Elvis until I hear what people say about it. Baz Luhrmann can be hit or very much miss. Plus it looks like Tom Hanks is playing a character that was left over from his repertoire in Cloud Atlas. Not necessarily saying that’s a bad thing. He can be a very entertaining ham, but it could very well sink the movie if handled wrong. Other than that, Crimes of the Future is the event of the month for me. Nice to see Cronenberg going back to his sick demented body horror roots, and bringing Viggo along for the ride. I expect to be thoroughly disturbed. It will be awesome. There was one overlooked May release however that I wanted to bring to everyone’s attention: Celine Sciamma’s Petite Maman. I don’t recall anybody bringing it up. I know you weren’t a fan of her previous film, Maggie (that being Portrait of a Lady on Fire), but…this one could be better. Anyways, it’s currently in theaters. That’s all I got.

2022-05-16 01:45:26 +0000 UTCI'm kind of interested in the new Elvis biopic, mainly because I find the casting of two lead roles perplexing. To me, Austin Butler, is a weird choice as Elvis, especially knowing they auditioned Miles Teller, who actually does look like him and has a more mature face. And then Tom Hanks in a fatsuit attempting an Eastern European accent as Elvis's cartoonishly evil manager is something I just can't pass up. This has the potential to be an entertaining disaster and I'm here for it.

2022-05-16 00:09:52 +0000 UTCBut yeah Crimes of the Future looks like best cinematography material already. And I got a big fat soft spot in my heart for the whole cast

2022-05-15 23:34:50 +0000 UTCThe Black Phone (June 24) looks dope! Derrickson did a good job with Sinister, so I’m excited to see him re-team with Ethan Hawke for another dive into horror-mystery. The design of the mask Hawke wears on the poster was cool enough to get me excited, so I’ve been avoiding plot details and trailers.

2022-05-15 23:26:22 +0000 UTCThe Black Phone might be interesting. That Elvis movie looks horrible.

2022-05-15 23:16:54 +0000 UTCThat's probably it for me tbh. I do want to check out Marcel the Shell with Shoes on cause it looks cute and very sweet but that's only limited at the end of the month so probably not actually a June movie. I'm vaguely intrigued by Flux Gourmet, the new Peter Strickland flick, even though I'm not a huge fan of his previous work. His last movie In Fabric was a step in the right direction for me so maybe this will continue that trajectory. But again, limited at the end of the month so likely only accessible to NY and LA anyway.
