Hello fellow Slayers,
Weekend...finally..so what are you gonna do?
Right now I try to take it easy and re-charge my batteries. Normally I planned to do a little summer break. But I couldn´t resist to do one more piece for you before I really take a break for a few weeks.
So, being myself a big fan of the Command & Conquer series since it came out in the mid 90s, I always loved the soundtrack of the game. Frank Klepacki wrote the whole soundtrack and I am following him for quite a while. Also, he does these live streams every now and then where he performs many of his classics. He is really a down to earth guy, has a great personality and is a magnificient composer and performer. All of this impresses me a lot and that is also my attitude, always was and is. My favorite part of the series is the first Command & Conquer, Red Alert and C&C Generals. How about you? Do you play any real time strategy games?
Now, I normally don´t touch material that I have not written by myself especially not stuff like this iconic piece. I mean..I did cover songs in the past but I never felt so comfortable doing covers because there is this thing where I always feel: What can I bring to the table? And yeah there is nothing wrong in doing a cover, right. However, this is always is on my mind and so ..yeah..I better watch other really good people doing their cool covers and enjoy watching them.
I would say this is an exception....because this piece always was in a special place for me and I listened to it..gazillions of times since it came out in 1995. Now..here is my take on it which I call "Hell March" Re:Imagined.
I had various goals, but 2 important ones for this cover:
- maintain the original vibe
- but not doing yet another 'regular' metal cover
So here is the result: The complete track, video and playthrough. The video took me quite some time to finish since I had to alter color grading, cuts, doing all the edits, virtual dolly cam movements (even in the 3rd Party footage), plus recording all my playing footage.
Having said that, I will send you the stream, high quality MP3 and high quality wave (depending on your tier) pretty soon! The Song version is a bit longer than the music - edit and features a bit of additional arrangements. You will get both versions of course!
I hope you have a blast with that one.
Command and Conquer!
