Thank you to everyone who left a comment and shared your opinion on the "Sketchy Business" event - I thought I'd follow up -
One, after reading everyone's response, I do believe it was best not to take the class in the end. So, I'm happy to report that I declined to take the class completely, and made no payment or signed signature.
Unfortunately since they don't sell their tutorials on Art Station, I don't think the rules apply to them. They link to their website from Art Station, and that's where they have you sign up and take the class. So, it's probably in their right to do what they want on their site.
That being said, if this company is as unreasonable as their terms of service, it's probably a fair guess that they are quite vengeful and dangerous. While I personally don't mind a good fight, at the moment I think our time is better spent making more tutorials for the community than fighting with the thousands of bots they would no doubt send to harass our comment section and ratio each video for the next 7 years.
But, if I see someone who is considering taking their class, I will try to at least tell them to read the TOS "extremely" carefully before you sign up. It's kind of horrifying knowing that ALL the work I've seen on their Art Station Portfolio is literally stolen from their students, and the students have no right to use or sell the beautiful work they've created :(
Anyway, if you see/meet anyone bringing this class up, maybe just drop them a quick DM and warn them if you get the chance -
Either way, there's not much we can do, but thank you everyone for your support, I'll see you all in the next vid -
