So, they accidentally gave us free scripts -

Thought I'd share a funny little story that happened today - As, most of you know, I've been working on a way to super speed the Facial MoCap process, and for the most part, I have succeeded. There are a few little kinks I'm trying to further improve/automate, and for that usually I ask questions directly with the Autodesk Technical Support staff. Since, they know the software better than anyone else -

Now, the guy who's been helping me so far has been super DUPER awesome at giving me great answers and solutions to tricky questions. A lot of the script I've come up with so far is largely with the Technical Support guy's guidance - Usually when we optimize a command, we try and do it with script, and right before we could finish the script, I got informed that apparently, Mr. Awesome helper guy was not "Supposed" to give me awesome scripts - And, soon after I got this email saying hey, yeah, up, you weren't supposed to get custom scripts like that, but you can BUY more custom scripts from us with this link here lolol -

I legitimately had no idea the support guys weren't supposed to help us write scripts. Guess, I've been in Blender so long, I forget not every community is as open about these things as ours -

BUT, the good news is - Even though it was incomplete, after a few hours today, I was able to finish the Facial Mirror Script Mr. Helper was teaching me. So, creating the 52 face shape keys is EVER easier now. And, I guess Autodesk really didn't want me to have it for free, but too bad, we have it now, and it works beautifully :)

I'm REALLY hoping we'll be able to turn this into a Blender addon by reverse engineering what I have from Maya sometime next year maybe, but, we'll see how it goes. In the meanwhile, yeah we got free awesome code that helps us automate an important feature -
