2026-02-17 14:33:06 +0000 UTCI think Song Yimeng as a character is not very smart and has a lot of fears but very passionate about people she cares about. A lot of dramas have very smart female lead but it will be generic if all drama have the same character design. I really enjoy drama that have really smart female leads like Blossom and Prisoner of Beauty because they are designed to be smart characters and it really shows with their calculation and decisions. I find it more frustrating if a character is supposed to be smart but keep making dumb decisions, especially due to unnecessary misunderstanding. That's why I still find this drama so enjoyable because Song Yimeng's actions are aligned with her character's design and thus, acceptable. I do feel frustrated sometimes and I feel so bad for Nan Heng but I guess the heart wants what it wants. Plus Nan Heng is plenty smart himself and that keeps the drama intriguing. I think he was attracted to Yimeng's weird antics and falls because of her heart, not her intelligence. Same with other great dramas where the male lead might be attracted because of the female lead's intelligence or beauty but eventually falls because of her heart.
