[update #1] just uploaded some progress with Sato now with the main electric arc furnace, the ladle would go right below it for collecting the molten steel. Then the ladle cart will transfer to the "pick up" point where the crane is, lift it up and place it onto the continuous casting area which is the next time on my plate. The casting area will cast the molten steel into slabs or blooms.
I will also wrap up the caboose and train platform for February release and in March will be the much anticipated Ishikawa release.
[end of update]
Been busy working on the exclusive pieces for the Ishikawa releases in less than 2 months but also started this project I mentioned a while ago.
The Sato Heavy Industries, basically a steel making factory. I've actually been doing a lot of researching, googling and watching youtube videos about steelmaking. Pretty interesting to say the least and I have actually picked one of the few steelmaking methods using the electric arc furnace or EAF where they use electrodes to heat up the metal / carbon mix and turn them into molten steel after some chemistry / explosion [don't get mad at me if this is not 100% accurate :) ]
There is still a ton of planning and models to make after all the researching. You have a bunch of casting equipment for the molten steel, more cranes, segment assembly, ladle furnace for further processing, the bar rolling machines to form the different types of steel like rail, steel beams, storage for the steel, railroad that ships the products in and out etc. I'm sure there are more and I will try to cover them as much as I can but no promise! :)
Here's also a preview of the title image as well as a concept of the factory, crane and ladle.
