2022-10-16 19:05:05 +0000 UTCOooh… so it’s not so much that Iberon is being manipulated by Ranach, like so many others have been, but that he *knows* how Ranach is, and because of his severe case of guilt and self-loathing, he thinks he deserves no better than someone like him as a lover. Okay, I like this much more. I still don’t like that Ranach gets to, ahem… fulfill his pleasures with his crush (i.e., Rogio replacement, since we all know the main reason he’s so enamored with him is because of his resemblance to Rogio, and now even more-so since I’m sure he’s put two and two together and realized that he’s Rogio’s brother), because he doesn’t deserve it, but at least Iberon is making it clear to him that he’s not doing this out of love or even infatuation, he’s doing it out of a kind of necessity; to try to make Ranach slip up and show him his actual intentions (after all, it’s often when someone becomes completely comfortable with someone that they show their true colors). I love Ranach’s look of shock in the panel before last, as Iberon reveals that he *will* kill him, if necessary; it’s like he’s realizing that, for once, *he* is the one being manipulated, and that he won’t be able to play Iberon for his own selfish needs, like he did Rogio (let me add that I also love how Iberon’s mouth is right against Ranach’s neck as he says this, symbolizing that he could easily rip out Ranach’s throat, if so inclined, making good on his threat; I’m not sure if this was intentional or not, but either way, it’s a nice touch). I have to say, I’m actually interested to see where this goes now that I know it’s not just a simple case of “Iberon giving into his lust for Ranach/returning Ranach’s case of infatuation toward him”, like the last page seemed to portray. It makes me happy to see that Iberon isn’t just going to let himself become yet another of Ranach’s victims, and like someone else said, I truly think it’ll be fitting for Iberon to be the one to finally end Ranach (that is, if Rogio himself doesn’t get to do it).

2022-10-16 18:48:23 +0000 UTCI don’t dislike Ranach, necessarily, because I think he’s a fascinating character and a great antagonist, but it would absolutely be a fitting end for him if Iberon is the one who finally kills him. And truthfully I think Iberon may be the least susceptible to being manipulated because “I may think I deserve someone like you.” Iberon hasn’t changed his mind about deserving horrible things for killing his brother so it makes sense that he thinks he deserves Ranach, who he believes is not who he says he is and will “eventually” (we of course know he already has) do something horrible enough that Iberon has to kill him. And I think Iberon will kill him because he thinks he deserves to suffer and killing Ranach after he gets attached to him would fit that line of thinking. Because Iberon “deserves to have to kill someone he got too close to.” I hope Iberon can grow and realize he deserves genuinely good things, but if he doesn’t before Ranach does something blatantly awful, it could be interesting.

His face was the definition of: 😟 It's all fun and games, till your partner wants honesty and says they'll murder you if they find out you aren't who you say you are, while you're well aware you are hiding a HUGE secret from them that can't be spun in a way to make you look like the good guy. Funny how genuinely concerned Ranach is now that the shoe is on the other foot and he's not the one making threats on someone else's life!
