Asking for early suggestions for what you might enjoy next ay? As others have said, Vinland Saga is likely the best new anime to watch if you want something of similar writing quality and seriousness. I truly think you can't go wrong with it. Two seasons so far My second suggestion is actually gonna be a bit out there relative to the anime you've watched so far: Haikyuu!! Four seasons so far, with two final films coming up later this year It's a sports volleyball anime. Yes you read that right. But I assure you, 95% of Haikyuu fans were not volleyball enthusiasts, with a significant chunk not even sports anime enthusiasts either. But it's a legendary show that hooked them all for a reason, one that anyone of any age with any preferences can enjoy. The brohood, the camaraderie, the character developments, the thorough respect and knowledge for the sport of volleyball, the masterful animation and directing of the high stakes matches, the fucking soundtrack, it's all worth a check~

I understand that you guys May want Vinland Saga but wouldn’t it be cool if he would Watch an Older anime like Neon Genesis Evangelion? JJK is also new gen i would Love a Little variety i think he would Love the Great Animation Style of an older show. Vinland Saga would be kinda boring right now the Action filled New gen Anime Spot is filled with JJK. So my vote is definitly Neon Genesis Evangelion, there Are so many Great Deep and insightful topics in the Show and Jon excells in this topics. Cheers guys :)

have you watched any studio ghibli stuff? those are all certified anime classics if you liked akira, ghost in the shell movie + the animated series (stand alone complex), the cyberpunk anime on netflix animes that people usually bring up in GOAT conversations; cowboybebop, code geass, full metal alchemist, one piece (ongoing and not finished but a shitton of episodes), neon genesis evangelion (the first series is great, imo the rest is not as great), naruto (imo loses its magic near the end of the series though should be noted that imo, this anime is what started the biggest wave of general acceptance of anime in the west), hunter X hunter (not finished) since you like grappling theres a ton of animes based on martial arts, most famous being grappler baki (not realistic), hajime no ippo and ashita no joe (boxing), and super old but a classic in fist of the north star series (hokuto no ken, super unrealistic) relatedly sports animes are really good too; captain tsubasa (football/soccer), slam dunk (basketball, anime isnt complete even though its finished, but you can watch the recently released movie for the peak of this series, one of my personal GOATs), Major (baseball), prince of tennis, Haikyu!! (volleyball) there are many others i WOULD like to recommend but sadly the anime adaptations pale in comparison to the manga source material; Beserk (though not finished IMO GOAT manga , even over AoT), Hellsing, Vagabond (doesnt even have an anime adaptation), etc. lastly if you have any kids violet evergarden will pull at your heart strings a ton

Good callback to what Pyxis said about a good lie being one with a little truth sprinkled in. Zeke said he dispersed his spinal fluid which paralyzes people before he makes them into a titan, when in reality, they can operate normally without suspicion of being dosed. That small lie was enough to give a false confidence which allowed their plan to work.

Pausing and closing your eyes as you say the word "baseball" out loud and a handful of puzzle pieces all suddenly click together at once is a top 5 moment in this whole reaction series imo. If you ever do a rewatch it's going to be littered with dozens of little moments like that :)

The second season, undoubtedly less action but first season is action packed, great anime and I think JD would like it.

I think you would enjoy vinland saga for your next anime, definitely less action and stuff but grounded and mature story
