Demetrius “Mighty Mouse” Johnson interviewed him on the process of writing AOT a few years back. It was a wholesome collab being Demetrius is such a huge fan of anime (AOT specifically) and Iseyama is such a MMA fan. This was in season 4 territory so I wouldn’t recommend watching yet for potential spoilers, but it’s definitely worth a watch!

2023-09-10 22:57:36 +0000 UTCIve watched a lot of AoT reactors, probably 10+ to this episode maybe more. You had the best reaction for this episode out of all them. Theres also a few videos on Youtube where mma guys are shown this episode no context and talk about the animation but thats a different thing all together as they have no investment in the show. I knew this episode would blow your mind and is part of why i subbed, especially knowing its right after S2E6 which is always one of the main ones. Did you notice that when Eren starts the arm bar rotation there is even a very brief shot of him initiating the move by twisting reiners thumb hard with his hands? Very cool detail. The author really did his homework.

In interviews series author Isayama has said that Eren’s Titan’s character design was heavily influenced by Yushin Okami and the armored Titan was modeled after Brock Lesnar. When you compared Reiner to Lesnar a few episodes ago it definitely made me laugh

It was the first in my list of anime ever since I started watching it, until I finished the second season of Vinland Saga. I recommend, after you finish one of these animes (aot or jujutsu kaisen), you take a look at vinland saga.
