i mean it does, you don’t gain anything for not watching it, and you start S2 confused because you completely miss the reveal which is a weird way to feel at the start of a new season. it never goes back to that reveal so if you never saw it you just never will

I agree with this. I just watched the eps as they came out like any other show and got all the info needed. Dont think I ever saw that lil end of credit shot in this episode, doesnt rlly change anything lol they spell it all out for you when the time comes anyways.

Imo y‘all are making him expect too much constantly from the show and while it does deliver on such detail I think its enough to let him know once that this show is very well written. In the end he should experience it in his own way without constantly worrying about missing something. I mean think about it, we just really appreciated the show back in the days for what it was and the mystery revolving around it without knowing everything we do now. Its not very fair imo

Strictly speaking they're all optional: you can enjoy and understand everything in the main series without watching them! though several of them are very good--and all of them can be watched now spoiler free since they were all released in the 4 year gap between seasons 1 and 2 Episode 1 "Ilse's Notebook" is the only OVA written by series author Isayama and the one I most recommend watching before season 2. (People also really enjoy Episodes 4/5 "No Regrets" which is a Levi backstory two-parter and Episode 2 is a light-hearted Sasha/Jean episode that's really funny and sweet) Selfishly I want you to get started on season 2 as soon as possible so maybe you could split them up and watch a couple between each season? I'll be here either way :D
