2019年にアイルランドのダブリンへワーホリ制度を使って語学留学をしてきていた私は結果的には多くの国を旅行しまくって帰ってくるというただのホリデー満喫みたいになっていた年でした。

コロナと同時に期限になったので今となっては大正解だったな～とは思うところです。

個人的に２０１４年にも３日間の旅行に来ていたこともあって、ある程度土地勘もある感じではありましたが、長期にその場所の生活に触れてみるのがまた興味を引くところでもあり今となっては第二の古郷感もするくらいダブリンに着くと安心する場所にもなりました。

アイルランドはヨーロッパに属しているので通貨もユーロです。

アイランド語（ゲール語）はあるのですが実質第一言語は英語で、ゲール語復興もしつつありバスの中は両方表示し、田舎の方はゲール語も一般的です。

北アイルランドはまた別にやると思いますが、そちらはイギリス領になるので違います。（とはいっても車でそのまま移動できちゃいます。）

この国発の格安航空が二社あり、「RyanAir」「AerLingus」を利用してヨーロッパ近郊を日本感覚ではありえないような金額で移動できるのでそういった意味でも動き回るには良い場所だったりします。

私がアイルランドを選んだ理由としてはやっぱりその環境や自然の雰囲気、古城や遺跡の風景が見たかったからというのが大きいです。

２０１９年は「ゲームオブスローンズ」最終章放映の時期でそういったロケーション地としてもいろんな場所で撮影地となっていたりします。

毎週パブでは放映時間に上映していて酒を飲みつつリアクションしながら見たりとその盛り上がりや話題が尽きなかったのも面白かったですね～

語学学校に行くといいことがいろいろあるんですが、一つにはもちろん友人だったりの国際的につながりができるのもありますが、学校によってはローカルのアクティビティを用意していて週末などに旅行をマネジメントしてくれているところもあります。

ちゃんとガイド付きで英語や知識としての勉強にもなるのでそういう意味でも個人旅行ではできないことができたりしました。

特にはじめの一か月は記憶としても体感かなり長く感じるくらいには忙しく濃厚なものになると思いますが今回のはその時期の写真ですね。

ロックオブカシェルは有名ではないかもですが丘の上に立つ古城で中には教会もあり半分ほどは遺跡のようになっています。

アイルランドはとても平坦の土地で山といっても５００ｍくらいが普通で、遮るものがないので風がとにかく強く天気も常に入れ替わるので天気予報で雨じゃない日がとても少ないです。（逆に日本みたいに強い雨はほとんどないです）

初のアクティビティがここで学校に来てすぐこの場所で風邪を引いた友達もそこそこいるくらい、アイルランドの気候を体感できるにはとてもい良い場所ではありました（笑）

フードがいかに必要かがわかる気候です。

西側の端っこにあるアイルランドでの観光地といえばモハーの断崖。

崖が見渡す限り続く絶景は何度来てみても良いものです。

どこまでも歩いて行けちゃうのですが集合時間には間に合うように引き返すようにしましょう。

ツアーによっては下の海から見上げられる遊覧船もあるんだとか。

崖沿いに手すりもないので実は自撮りでの死亡事故が多い場所でもあり危険なセルフィーには注意です。

西側の港町といえばゴールウェイで、ダブリンほどではないですが夜にはパブなどで通りが賑わう場所です。

すぐに歩き回れちゃうくらい狭い場所ではありますがアラン諸島へ行くのに夜に立ち寄るには良い場所です。

小さな島からなるアラン諸島は名前の通りアランセーターの発祥の地で辺境のアイルランドの中の辺境ではありますが旅行地としては有名です。

主に一番大きい島がイニシュモア島なのですがそこを自転車をレンタルして島を一周するのが定番だと思います。

ここにも遺跡であったり断崖、平坦な島を一望できる絶景など天気が良ければ本当に気持ちがいい場所です。

セーターの網の模様は家系ごとに違いがあり、お見上げショップなどでもたくさんの模様と家の名前を確認することができます。

ここに住む人たちは古くからの家系でケルトの血が強いのかなーなんて思ったりしますが黒髪、茶色の目の西洋人という印象が強かったです。よくアイリッシュは赤髪で緑の目のような印象がありますが、そればバイキングの血統だったりするとのことです（アイリッシュの先生談）

ダブリンから南へ行った山のほうにあるグレンダーロッホは古い初期キリスト教の遺跡がある場所でバイキングを見張るタワーやケルト十字が特徴的なお墓であったり美しい山、湖のハイキングエリアになってたりします。

湖の先まで歩くと、バイキングから逃れたキリスト教徒の隠れた里の遺跡などもあります。

ツアーでなくともダブリンからバスが出てたりしますので時間に余裕があればぜひ訪れてみてほしい場所です。

という感じで、有名なアイルランド観光地の１弾って感じになりました。

ダブリンだけでも色々見る場所はあり、今回だと「ケルトの書」が見ることのできるトリニティカレッジの古図書館や、広大なフェニックスパークの写真がありますが他にもダブリン城、テンプルバー周辺、ケルトの美術品が見たければ美術館、博物館や何より数多くのパブなどがあります。

派手な都市よりは地味で静かな自然とビールが好きな人にはたまらないアイルランドです。

そういえば初め１パイントも飲めなかった自分も最後には３パイントもいけるようになってたなぁ。

でも帰ってから日本のビールはまだ苦手だったり。

ラガー、エール、IPA、パブごとにいろんなビールがありましたが、日本でいうビールは炭酸強いラガーに限定されている感があるのかな。クラフトビールといわれてるものに近いんだろうか。

そこそこの苦味とフルーティな香りのやつが結構好きなことが分かったのに日本では向こうのたくさんあるビールが飲めないのがちょっと悲しいです。

とまあそんな感じで長々となりましたが何回かに分けるとは思いますとりあえずのアイルランド編でした！

I went to Dublin, Ireland in 2019 on a work holiday program to study abroad, and as a result, it was a year of traveling around a lot of countries and coming back just to enjoy the holidays.

It was a great decision, I think, now that it expired at the same time as Covid.

Personally, I had been here for a 3-day trip in 2014, so I had some familiarity with the area, but it was also interesting to experience the lifestyle of the place over a longer period of time. I felt at ease when I arrived in Dublin, as it now feels like a second home to me.

Ireland belongs to Europe, so the currency is the Euro.

Although there is an Irish language (Gaelic), English is actually the first language, but Gaelic is being revived and both languages are displayed on buses, and Gaelic is also common in rural areas.

I think Northern Ireland part will be done separately, but that is different because it is a British territory. （You can drive straight to Northern Ireland though.)

There are two low-cost airlines from Ireland, RyanAir and AerLingus, which allow you to travel around Europe at a price that would be unbelievable in Japan, so it is a good place to move around.

I chose Ireland because I wanted to see the environment, the natural atmosphere, and the scenery of old castles and ruins.

In 2019, the final chapter of "Game of Thrones" will be aired, and many places are being used as filming locations.

Every week, pubs would show the show during the airing time, and it was fun to watch it while drinking and reacting to the show, and there was never a shortage of excitement and topics to talk about.

One of the many good things about going to a language school is, of course, the opportunity to make friends and international connections, but some schools also offer local activities and manage trips on the weekends.

The first month of the trip was very busy and intense, so much so that it feels quite long in my memory, and these photos are from that period.

The Rock of Cashel may not be famous, but it is an old castle standing on top of a hill with a church inside and half of it is a ruin.

The land in Ireland is very flat and the mountains are usually about 500 meters high, and there are no obstructions, so the wind is very strong and the weather is always changing. The weather is very windy and the wind is always changing. (On the other hand, there is almost no strong rain like in Japan.)

One of the tourist attractions in Ireland at the western end of the country is the Cliffs of Moher.

The cliffs stretch as far as the eye can see, and the view is spectacular, no matter how many times you come back.

You can walk as far as you want, but be sure to turn around in time for the meeting time.

Some tours offer a sightseeing boat ride where you can look up from the sea below.

There are no railings along the cliffs, so be careful of dangerous selfies, as this is actually a place where many selfie fatalities have occurred.

The western port town is Galway, where the streets are crowded with pubs at night, though not as much as in Dublin.

It is a good place to stop by at night to visit the Aran Islands, although it is small enough to walk around quickly.

The Aran Islands, as the name suggests, are the birthplace of the Aran sweater, and although they are in a remote part of Ireland, they are well known as a tourist destination.

The largest of the islands is Inishmore Island, where you can rent a bicycle for a round-the-island tour.

It is also a very pleasant place to visit when the weather is nice, with ruins, cliffs, and a spectacular view of the flat island.

The pattern of the sweater netting is different for each family, and you can see many patterns and family names in the stores you see up there.

The people who live here are from old families and I wonder if they have strong Celtic blood, but I had a strong impression that they are Westerners with black hair and brown eyes. I often have the impression that the Irish have red hair and green eyes, but I was told that this may be due to their Viking heritage (according to my Irish teacher).

Glendaloch, a mountainous area south of Dublin, is home to old early Christian ruins, a Viking watch tower, a grave with a distinctive Celtic cross, and a hiking area with beautiful mountains and lakes.

If you walk beyond the lake, you will also find the ruins of a hidden Christian village where Christians escaped from the Vikings.

Even if you are not on a tour, there is a bus service from Dublin, so if you have time to spare, this is a place you should definitely visit.

So, this is just one of the famous sightseeing spots in Ireland.

There are many places to see in Dublin alone, such as the old library of Trinity College where you can see the "Celtic Book" and the vast Phoenix Park, but there are also Dublin Castle, the Temple Bar area, museums, and above all, many pubs if you want to see Celtic art. Dublin is more than just a fancy city.

If you like nature and beer, you will love Ireland.

Come to think of it, I couldn't even drink a pint of beer in the beginning, but by the end I could drink three pints.

However, I still don't like Japanese beer after returning home.

Lager, ale, IPA, and various other beers were available at each pub, but I feel that Japanese beer is limited to lager with strong carbonation. I guess it is similar to what is called craft beer.

I am a little sad that I can't drink many beers in Japan, even though I found that I like bitter beer with a fruity aroma.
