Sara, 7 years old, her parents died in a train accident and she is all alone now. She follows Jack everywhere and is always with him. And Jack is always there to take care of her as her big brother.
"Sara," Jack said warmly, crouching down to be at her eye level. "What brings you here?"
Sara fidgeted with the hem of her tattered dress, avoiding Jack's gaze. "I... I had a bad dream, Jack," she murmured, her voice barely above a whisper.
Jack's brows furrowed with concern. He reached out and gently placed a hand on Sara's shoulder, offering her comfort. "Tell me about it, Sara. You know you can always talk to me."
Sara looked up, her eyes welling up with tears. "I dreamt about my parents. They were on a train, and I was trying to reach them, but I couldn't. The train just kept going, and I was left all alone."
Jack's heart ached for Sara. He knew all too well the pain of loss and the haunting grip of loneliness. He pulled her into a tender embrace, allowing her to cry softly against his shoulder.
"It's okay, Sara. I'm here for you," Jack whispered soothingly. "Sometimes dreams can be scary, but they can't hurt us. You're safe now, and I won't let anything happen to you."
After a few moments, Sara's tears subsided, and she pulled away from Jack's embrace. She looked up at him with a glimmer of hope in her eyes. "Promise?"
Jack smiled gently, his hand cupping her cheek. "Promise."
Sara's lips curled into a small smile, her trust in Jack evident. In that moment, Jack realized that his journey to find a place where he belonged also involved taking care of those who needed him. He had become a protector, not just for himself, but for Sara too.
"Sara, do you want to stay with me tonight?" Jack asked, his voice filled with warmth. "I can tell you a story until you fall asleep."
Sara's eyes lit up with excitement, her earlier fears momentarily forgotten. "Yes, please! I love your stories, Jack."
Jack took Sara's hand and led her into his room, where they settled on his bed. As they snuggled under the covers, Jack began to weave a tale of magic and wonder, creating a world where dreams were made real and fears were conquered.
Jack sat on the edge of his bed, his arm draped protectively around Sara as he began to share his story. The room was bathed in the warm glow of a bedside lamp, casting a comforting ambiance.
"Once upon a time, in a world much like ours, there lived a young boy named Jack," he began, his voice soft and gentle. "Jack was just like any other child, except he had a secret. He could see things that others couldn't—a world of shadows and whispers, filled with magical creatures and hidden realms."
Sara's eyes widened with wonder, her gaze fixed on Jack as she listened intently.
"Just like you?" Sara asked.
Jack nodded, a smile playing on his lips. "Yes, just like me. You see, Sara, sometimes the world is much bigger and more magical than what meets the eye. But not everyone has the ability to see it. It's a special gift, a secret that only a few are entrusted with."
Sara's curiosity sparked, and she scooted closer to Jack, her small body leaning in as if to soak up every word.
"Tell me more about Jack," she urged, her voice filled with anticipation.
Jack took a deep breath, gathering his thoughts. "Well, in this hidden world, Jack met a mischievous creature named Jax. He was a household elf, and he became my friend and guide. Jax taught me about the wonders that lay beyond our sight, the magic that dwelled in the shadows. Jax and Jack embarked on countless adventures together," Jack continued, his voice filled with a sense of nostalgia. "They explored forgotten passages in the orphanage, unraveling the mysteries of its history. We encountered fantastical beings like fairies, goblins, and even talking animals who shared their wisdom with them."
"Fairies? They say Fairies took mommy and daddy away. Do you think they will let me see mommy and daddy? I miss them so much," Sara asked innocently with her eyes twinkling with hope. Her tiny hands grabbed Jack's sleeves.
Jack's heart ached at Sara's words, understanding the depth of her longing. He gently brushed a stray lock of hair from her face and looked into her eyes, filled with compassion.
"Sara, I wish I could promise you that we could see your mommy and daddy again," Jack said softly. "But the world of fairies and the realm of the departed are different. Fairies have their own purpose and magic, and they may not be able to bring your parents back. However, I believe that they are watching over you, keeping you safe from afar."
Sara's face fell slightly, but she nodded, accepting Jack's explanation. Her grip on his sleeves tightened, seeking comfort in his presence.
"But, Sara," Jack continued, his voice gentle yet determined, "even though we can't see your parents, we can keep their memories alive in our hearts. We can honor them by being brave, kind, and strong, just like they would want us to be."
Sara looked up at Jack, her eyes shimmering with a mix of sadness and hope. "I want to be brave, just like you, Jack. And I want to make mommy and daddy proud."
Jack's heart swelled with pride as he gazed at Sara, recognizing the resilience and strength within her. "I know you will, Sara. You have a beautiful spirit, and I believe in you."
As the room grew quiet, the weight of their shared stories and emotions filled the air. Jack tightened his embrace around Sara, creating a safe haven where they could find solace in each other's presence.
"Jack," Sara whispered, her voice barely audible.
"Yes, Sara?" Jack replied, his voice filled with warmth.
"You are not going to leave me like mommy and daddy, are you?" Sara asked, her eyes searching Jack's face for reassurance.
