I'm trying to adapt the style to a more traditional visual novel format, thinking about the backgrounds that I have to design, so that everything is at the same level of detail.

Consider me intrigued. I love me some steampunk and 17th-18th century is really nice for outfits like you have shown above. A lot of pompous fabric dresses with lots of layers and suits, big hats and a very clear distinction between poor and rich.
