I spent only about $2000 to travel around Ireland

How did we spend so little for a three week vaca? easy. Don't waste money on souvenirs or eating out all the time. I wanted to spend money on experiences. Sometimes a restaurant was an experience, but we saved for only the most interesting places (or too hungry and tired to make food).  On hikes there weren't a lot of restaurants anyway. It was easier to pack up some food.  While we did drink every night, bars closed at midnight and drinks were on the cheaper end in local taverns.  Of course we stayed in hostels which was an alright experience.  My headphones really helped me get a good night's sleep.  I think the worst splurge we kept spending on was treats. So many baked goods!!!! Grant and I found it hard to resist, but its probably my deepest regret.  I've learned from constant travel that food is food, and good food is everywhere. It stops becoming  a cool and unique experience when I eat out every night. Same from treats.  They become harder to remember and the calories become less worth it for something with a lot of nutrients that'll keep me healthy through long hikes, rainy days, and attempting to hitchhike with a variety of strangers. More on that in a future post
