Evolving the Cheek Pistol Concept: Calico M950 (Ad-free)

I have found the "cheek pistol" concept from Rhett Neumayer at Demonstrated Concepts to be pretty interesting. When I was thinking about what pistol designs might be suitable for this sort of use, the Calico M950 jumped out as a really neat candidate. It's a downward-ejecting design that doesn't have a external moving slide, and the magazine would make a very good cheek rest. So I talked my friends at Diamondback Tactical in Tucson, and voila! We have a Calico Cheek Pistol.

I am really happy at how well it shoots, but it seems that most of the cheek pistols out there are hampered by their base platforms, and this one proved no exception on the range today...

If you added a sheild to a revolver it could cheek weld.... 3d printed?

Tom DeGisi

Interesting indeed

Did you lose count when loading the mag & stop 1 crank short?

We desperately need a quality company to make a dedicated cheek pistol in 9mm (and preferably 7.65 French Longue as well)

like an uzi pistol or scorpion semi without a moving slide? nope neither was designed as a pistol but.. ruger 10/22 charger (a bit LARGE)? revolvers are out of question with cylinder gap. so..

Re: LAUGO ALIEN Now, THAT would be worth designing an "appurtenance" for! I visualize an accessory that mounts to rail under frame in front of trigger guard with a "hook" beneath muzzle a'la P90 to keep one's off hand from slipping forward/getting shot, a U shaped cross section in front of ejection port to muzzle in order to protect fingers from serrated sides of moving slide, a rearward extension with a cutout for ejection port on right (and an "index" to FINALLY stop Ian from jamming the Alien by bouncing ejected cases off his misplaced hand back into the breech!), a boxed in rear end for back of slide to extend into when cycling, perhaps with a PADDED CONTACT SURFACE. THE WHOLE UNIT COULD ALSO REPLACE THE EXISTING TOP STRAP AND CARRY A DEDICATED OPTIC.

Heck, it's PLENTY accurate just fired from the hip! https://youtu.be/lkv_mJa4MNE

A BIG Thank You for showing me a New way to play with my Calico!!! 🤠👍

“I can run a spinner with a traditional pistol and a single magazine”. Oh, how soon we forget!

Might be an option when the ATF's anticipated new rules is applied regarding AR pistols with pistol braces. Just remove the brace from the buffer tube and use the tube for the cheek weld. The tube definitely isn't meant to be "shouldered", so I think that would let the pistol pass the worksheet.

I have the m950 with a red dot, just put on the 100rd drum and you can shoulder it as a stubby shoulder stock

Carl

Very cool concept
