The Great Depression started in 1929, not after WWII. There was terrible economic difficulty during the Great Depression until WWII. The ramped-up US Government spending and manufacturing for the war effort moved the US out of the depression and post-WWII was indeed the start of economic prosperity in many parts of the world.
