The fact that he’d sacrifice everything - his stability, his loved ones, himself- just to win, and even after, when he remarks how everything is ‘broken beyond repair’, he has almost a bittersweet look to him - as if the chaos was almost worth it, that though everything is shattered and broken, it was under HIS hand, and so he still feels power over having had control over the outcome. Which I think is why in the comic panel (I think this is the AU where he loses, if I’m correct) he hates her and is so distressed; because even with his chaos and fighting, the outcome didn’t change; he didn’t make an impact. From what I’ve seen (and inferred, I could be wrong), Lumino is somewhat content with the idea of ‘brokenness’ - as long as it’s by his hand and has helped him get the outcome he wanted (i.e. defeating Arnyek seemed to be his goal, not preserving the Old World. Although he did end up winning against Arnyek, the Old World seemed to have been destroyed, from my knowledge.)
