Clint Eastwood - Full Tab - PDF + GP5

Hi! Here's the full Clint Eastwood tab with a little story!

Hi!

Here's the full Clint Eastwood tab! This one was probably one of the hardest of the bunch. I needed to take another week just to practice this song a bit more. The hardest part is that it's in the key of D# and it's an anti-guitar key. Still I didn't want to tune the guitar to half step down, or play it in E, because it was darker this way. Also it made me challenge myself, and it's always a plus!

During the rap verse, like in "Feel Good Inc." comes the slap part. It would be much easier in E, or A, but in D# it becomes an exercise in muting every open string possible, hehe. If you accidentally play an open string when slapping in E, then it sometimes sounds even cooler, but not in D# - it becomes an awful dissonance! It's great that this song has an E-major chord that ends every bar, because it made the landing easier.

Now the story about the final solo... It was also hard because I wanted to achieve a Joe Bonamassa/BB King feel. It's because I watched a cool video of BB King playing with Derek Trucks and John Mayer, where Derek just obliterates everyone with his majestic solo. I felt inspired by this moment. I wrote the whole solo, recorded it and then deleted half of it because it sucked. I don't know why but I started playing some diminishing arpeggios that sounded like a robot (yeah, very bluesy!). Seriously, don't ever try writing a more technical solo, because most of the time you won't be happy. After deleting half of it and recording it once again the next day it finally clicked! I really like it's sound and the whole funky/bluesy vibe of it. It fits this song perfectly!

So the moral of the story is: Always play with the song, not just to show off. If you can't hum it, then don't play it.
