There are two potential problems with this joke, which I won't know the extent of until it hits public eyes. The first one is that the joke just doesn't read clearly, and people will think that the idea is that conservative fans will react negatively to a classic character being non-binary.

On the far other side of things, there is the potential reaction that non-binary will see this and go "Yeah, so? Whats the problem?" There is a trend among certain NBs I've seen around twitter to self-describe by saying stuff like "I'm gender trash. I'm a dumpster fire of gender. If male and female were two semi trucks and they collided on the highway, the explosion and massive loss of life that would ensue is my gender. Don't look at me, don't even perceive me."

This isn't everyone, obviously; but I could imagine people in this category wearing the label of "thing" or "abomination" with pride, especially since The Thing is a fairly likable character. I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

"Eviler than Loki" is so clunky despite being so short, it's fun to imagine a diehard Marvel fan saying it and thinking it's such an awesome slam. I hope that comes off as intentional, and people don't think that I earnestly think its an awesome slam too.

The writer's name was originally going to be Gorilla Grodd, which is way funnier, but maybe tonally a little too goofy.
